SATNAV - WHAT IS IT DOING!!

Ok, so you've set your route and you have the RDS-TMC on. Driving along the North Circular and it tells me that there may be trouble ahead do you want me to do something about it. "Not 'arf" I thought. Pressed the "Yes" button...

I can't really remember what happened but I thought that looking at the SatNav screen to decifer it probably isn't as sensible as current rad safety advice would dictate.

Anyway long story short, the screen splits in two, LHS showing where you are and the RHS showing what I think are a selection of exits of the road that you are on. Pressing either of them has, erm no effect... And having checked the manual, there is no mention of it in there....

So has anyone got the first idea what is happening!! Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

sounds like it was the standard screen whilst driving on a motorway

left showing current position, right showing the distance to next exit, and the facilities there, IE petrol, hotel etc

edit: to add by pressing Yes, send me round the imaginary stationary traffic, it automatically diverts you with out any user options of route Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Confusing thing for me is why it decided that I needed to know the exits that were coming up. I mean it is all very useful, I'm amazed that I have lived this long without it, but why do it suddenly think that I need the information. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. As it's showing the exits, you can click the right top corner map button to go back to the full map.

And as you are in the UK you maybe don't realise it, but here it shows the exits to the "left" as well, instead of the real exits to the right. Rolling with laughter 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

I just love the satnav, set it to take me to a railway station a few days ago and ended up going down a narrow 'lane' which turned into a dirt track which eventually put me on the opposite side of the track to the station. If it wasnt for a 6 foot fence I could have drove across the track for the drop off!!
