I left my car at one my companies premises today and travelled with a colleague to a meeting. Five minutes after leaving it i was phoned to tell me there were flames coming out of the boot and i turned round and headed back not believeing it was really on fire. When i got there the flames were out but the back window had burst and the inside rear door trim was melted and the car full of smoke. On the road this morning the rear wiper wasn't working properly and it must have overheated and caused a fire after i had left the car.

When you say that the rear wiper wasn't working properly, can you elaborate. Yesterday, I started the car in the morning and the front wipers were frozen to the screen. I heard it attempt to start wiping but couldn't move them. This made me think about what safety/cut-out measures there are in place for such problems. They worked fine once defrosted so no apparent harm but a jammed mechanism could lead to a hot motor which could cause fire??? |

Have noticed rear wiper not self parking when I switch rear wiper off. It stays 1/3rd up screen until I switch on and try again.

Ive noticed on a couple of rare instances that when switching off the rear wiper it stops about 2 inches up the window, being a bit of a perfectionist I always switch it back on and off until it goes back in its correct position - never had much concern over it before - perhaps I now should? |

On the plus side your FL2 is the same colour as 'ad210358's so if his is still in the garage they can use his car as a donor for parts (they have secretly been doing that since it went in 2 years ago!!) |
