The blue tooth stays on for a short while after removing the key, I can normally be in my kitchen when I hear my phone un-pairing in my pocket, or If I've turned the ignition off and removed the key and have been sat in the car finishing a call on hands free a minute or so later it shuts down mid-sentance.

I couldn't start my 8 month old FL2 after 7 days idle. Land Rover Assist (AA) said the battery was reading 4v. He aslo explained he had other similar incidents with newish FL2's !

Seemed no problem for a couple of days, and held it's charge, but had it checked by my main dealer who are going to replace it today.

just took my FL2 for the b pillar wear and new windscreen (only passengers side heated) and was told it was also booked for a recall to replace the horn, apparently it is causing battery drain!

LR never stops to amaze me...
The horn is powered directly from the battery, BUT _through_the_contacts_of_a_relay_.
It can't be possible in hell for the horn to drain the battery if that relay isn't energized. And if it is, then the horn will be "horny". Laughing Laughing Laughing

Am I missing something here, what's all this about "an AA man"? Fortunately I have not had to call out LRA since March 09 after very foolishly filling up a TD4 with petrol (there were extenuating circumstances but that's another story) but I should be most upset if I had occasion to call LRA again and a man in a yellow van showed up.

I had a flat battery a few weekends back. The car was 3 weeks old and had 340 miles on the clock at the time.

The LRA technician came out and checked the battery which registered 11.47v. He checked for power draw usng a clamp meter on the positive battery cable and reported it was OK. He then started the car with an external battery pack, put load on the system using the heater and heated windows. This all went OK and the battery charged OK. He then connected a computer to the battery which also checked out OK.

Then he asked me what I have done in the car previous to the battery being flattened. I said that I had cleaned out the inside of the vehicle and had the drivers door open for 20 - 30 minutes and he said that would flatten the battery!

I asked the dealer to look at it as I was suprised by the LRA technician's comment and have just heard back from them that the car and battery checks out OK. Their technician also confirmed that leaving the door open for 20 minutes would flatten the battery.

I'm astonished to say the least. I cannot believe that in a modern car this would happen. The lady who told me this said in a very chirpy manner that she doesn't have this problem in her car and quite often leaves the door open. She doesn't drive a LR.

Has anyone else suffered this as a cause of the battery going flat?

This coupled with a badly installed and whistling roof rack has ruined the experience of getting a new car.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I was wondering whether the HSE spec (i.e. sat nav, electric seats etc. etc.) might have been an issue, but dont think this is the problem based on your responses. In these days of computerised everything in cars, too much in my opinion, we are at the mercy of software writers. I would have thought though that LR would have some device that monitors the battery and cut's everything except the alarm if the battery drops to a low level.

The problem is not the battery, alternator etc.

It's a faulty starter button assembly.

Just ask and you will be told!

Should be the end of this thread.

I have been stationary for sometimes up to 4-5 hours with the main interior lights on, also using 2 way radio which consumes much more than lights when transmitting. I also have inverter running to charge handheld radio and torch.
I always start engine every hour. Never a problem. Better not be as I am usually in the middle of a forrest somewhere. All FL2's (3) Gone
