No, you are not mistaken, not only was this a transcript of Mrs Fraser last night after a half bottle of Jacobs Creek, but this is what I was shouting at 10am yesterday morning...no not with Mrs Fraser, but with my new love 'Foggy 2 - the re run'..

Well Chaps and Chapess' the new car has arrived and after 39 miles has been trouble free..........hooray seems like this might be the one!!! I have had a good play with the gears in auto, sport and command shift and, well, yep its great, much better than I thought. I have not caned it too much yet as want tyres brakes and engine/ running gear to settle in but it goes very well. Just concerned that when I filled up the manual the range on the fuel computer would sometimes on full state 500+ miles.....the auto registered less than 400!!!! But sod it that is a small sacrifice in persuit of perfection.

Obviously the rest of the car is as was, except for the ommision of the DVD screens which will come later. The clear side repeaters , courtesy of 'www.sixonetwo.co.uk' look a treat, and if you mention to the contact name 'Mark' you are a forum member he will do you a decent price too.

I have used the opportunity to clean out my old CD collection and refresh with some new tunes from my archives, most of which seem to be more powerful/ stronger tunes obviously being influenced by my excitement. I have also stuck in the boot a couple of self adhesive battery powered lights (as I think have been suggested by other forum members) to aid the .3 candle watt power Land Rover light.

Roof bars actually look better again than I remember, but car still looks very tall to what I was used to, and the removable tow bar is a breeze to connect and disconnect. It was hardest to fit the dummy cover plate which took me about 20mins...was like being a virgin again, trying to get this thing into a hole, fumbling around, in out different postions in out, instructions didn't help or the Karma Sutra, and the car didn't talk to say yes its in either. Suddenly a satisfying push and it was over

IN MY TYPICAL FASHION THOUGH....PROBLEMS!!!!!! not the car but again the dealer As most of you know this was a buy back and the dealer knew I had problems with the old car and their ability to fix those problems, and their ability to comunicate with themselves (Service reception to work shop to sales and bodyshop) When I picked up the first car the rear spolier was not ready so had to go back to have it fitted.

DE'JA' VOUS 1st Sept new car, three months notice of this date with a previously about customer and...........no fg spoiler. To rub salt into the wound I visited them four days earlier to check the car and told them then the spoiler was missing, what was done, NOTHING. Which is such a shame. I also gave them the side repeaters and asked they fit those.....you guessed it!!! Nope not fitted. So side repeaters fitted on day of collection and revisit for the spoiler, once sprayed.

So the '57' plate is proudly on the drive awaiting DVLA to sort out the cherise transfer, then it will be back to the old '04' plate.

Well I'm signing off as I am going for a play with the car now and if my lucks in Mrs Fraz might be up for some mileage to night

Had my first experience of the auto yesterday at Land Rover Experience, what a cracking car .....

Come on Carl, give us some numbers and impressions, mate. Have you got any mpg reading yet? Any differences from the old car, eg seat belt B-pillar, satnav coin plastic, rattles dissapearing? Anxiously waiting for your opinion.

Numbers!! well So far, ignoring dealer ommissions for spoiler etc , the car for on road behaviour is 9/10 the extra 1/10 will hopefully come once she has run in a little more and I can test her agility a little more, but since the old car was very agile I suspect Foggy 2 will the same, once I also become more natural with the auto box and I myself become more automatic switching between between auto and command shift. Still feels a little alien after only 98 miles.

As for juice in the tank....... Foggy 2 seems a little on the greedy side....only getting 23.2MPG!!!!! , unless Land Rover have put an i6 engine in by mistake , hope not as I filled up with diesel on Saturday!!!!! I am hoping once I get bored of flattening the 'go' pedal to the floor from a moving start, I should return nearer 30mpg , but I am still in the honeymoon period and since the car feels so keen and eager to perform, why hold it back . It does feel quicker than the old manual gearbox, but maybe this is because I am effectively sitting as a passenger not dealing with gears, and those gear changes are super smoooooooth, even on 'kick down'.

I have noticed the radio display when linked in with my phone now dispalys the network provider and the signal strength, which the old car never used to.

My stainless steel tread plates in the rear have fallen off though, they only stick on with double sided tape which is fine, the problem is the plates don't sit flat enough to the the rigded plastic on the floor in the back so the dealer is getting some more, or thicker double sided tape would do the trick to!! Probably the G Forces being pulled under accelaration have sucked them from their grip

So far, so good!! I was never a fond lover of auto's, believing manual was the only way but I have definately changed my opinion, Best of both worlds for sure. So a BIG BIG thank you for all the forum members postings about auto's and to Defkalion who gave me plenty of advice and guidance. Without such positive feed back I would be in a manual one now, and not realise what I was missing. If you have a Manual enjoy it they are great, if you have the opportunity to change your order before it is built I urge you to strongly consider changing your mind in favour of the auto, it is great if a little heavy on juice at the moment.

Your posts are always most entertaining, you have wicked sense of humour. BUT I have one problem with your recent posts. You have a brand new car, auto to boot, you shouldn't have time to post on here; you should be out driving ALL the time. Now get your a** outside, drive the car, and we'll here from you in a couple of weeks time.

It might sound obvious, but have you checked your tyre pressures? Whenever I've bought a new car I've been caught out assuming that the pressure would have been checked as part of the PDI. With FL2 No. 1, I was disappointed to find I was only getting about 32mpg to start with, until after a couple of weeks I checked the tyres and found them all several PSI down on what they should have been - a bit of air made all the difference and gave me another 5mpg.

Learned my lesson this time and checked all pressures as soon as I got home, and they were all OK at 31/32 PSI this time. Driving FL2 No. 2 back to Shefford on Sunday night, following all the running-in recommendations and cruising most of the motorway miles at 68mph, I got home with 40mpg on the clock! (Dream on, auto owners )

Avtur my wife thinks I'm sad enough about the car and this forum, without going for 'just' a drive too. Plus as the nights are drawing in it means using my headlights!!!!! Now, new car, warm evening, headlights and speed equals

Concerning my real honeymoon, there was only one thing being 'posted', and that wasn't the new wife it was me in friggin quarantine Caught bloody CHICKEN POX in the Maldives and had to stay an extra two sodding weeks, I really have ' ' luck sometimes.

Sorry NightFox in answer to your sensible comment, funny you say about the tyres, I looked at them today and thought they looked a bit flat but wrongly assumed the PDI would have ensured they were inflated to the correct pressure. I will seek another filling station locally as my local Sainsburys tyre inflator was out of order, which I happened to notice when passing tonight. Will post my findings Thanks for advice

Glad you are really enjoying Foggy 2. And let me say you are amongst the lucky ones who take an extra honeymoon with the same 'model'.
Let me also note that the adaptive auto box takes about 50km's to 'get used' to your driving style. At least it does on my i6 when the dealer has to reset all configuration after a software update (I've done it 3-4 times ). So give it some time to settle down properly.
By the way, was it you in an old James Bond film with a car with some old pathetic mechanism which would flip his number plates round and round? Never imagined it would just be double sided tape!

Icarus, if I can sweet talk the wife into washing the car like some of these babes in the music videos, ie. bikini clad then sure new photos will be posted, but I fear she might not go for it so next batch may only be the car
