As I have reported the German motor press praise the Freelander II with regard to quality and ride.
Reading the posts from our Britsh friends some of them are having great problems with their Freelies. Trying to analyse the reasons of such problems from what has been reported in this forum I suspect that most problem-Freelies have a manufacturing date earlier than May 2007. The Freely II has been introduced in Germany on May 03, 2007, and all Freelies delivered in Germany from that date run without any problems. The LR-dealers in Germay have made sure that alle sofware updates have been made, and the ex-works filled-in engine oil is replaced prior to delivery with fully sythetic motor oil as the motor oil as per Ford norm 913 B is second grade, not suitable for Germany's speed-unlimited motor ways (Autobahn).
So you hear no reports of problems with the Freelander II from proud owners in Germany, and the German Freelander Forum is free from complaints, not even glitches.
So I believe it reasonable to conclude that the Freelander II manufactured after a certain date has improved in manufacturing routine, deleting the reported software problems and showing the reliability we expect from a car with this build quality.

I wish all Freelander II owners trouble free operation of their toy. It is a very good vehicle.

oh yes... i don't know which production batch has been updated with what improvements, but i know that my mid-april delivered 3.2/HSE hasn't had one single problem thus far. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6
