Showroom Tax!

Some of you may be aware of the new 1st year Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) that will be chargeable on all new vehicles from 1st April. I thought that it would be helpful to provide some examples of what Land Rover expect the charges to be, and how they differ from the existing Road Fund Licence levels.

Please note that this replaces the normal road tax for the first year only and is not on top of road tax. To be fair it's not quite as painful as I expected it to be when it was announced in the budget.

Please note that the above is for indication purposes only, until an official announcement is made.

Idea
Firstly I think it would be appropriate (in the interest of accuracy and the avoidance of alarmist piffle) to change the title of your interesting post as it is most certainly NOT a "Showroom Tax".

Having said that, I do wish the Chancellor would pay more attention to raising revenues from those other currently road tax free vehicles that contribute significantly to both increased CO2 emissions and increased fuel consumption. Caravans.

It is about time they were subject to a Road Fund Tax and a Congestion Charge.

Would a FL2 manual pulling a big gypo style caravan not be chuggin out more co2 than an auto with no caravan?

If so, There should be a hefty co2 levy heaped upon ALL caravans, with a scappage allowance if you scrap one and NOT buy another one Laughing

We should take a caravan owners, line them up against a wall and shoot them. They are the scourge of the road, a blight on humanity, a pimple of the a**e of society. Other than that they are human too I suppose, maybe not.

And how about cyclists, a Kamakazi mentality combined with an arogance that makes them drive in the middle of the road with queues of traffic stacked up behind them. When you do manage to overtake them, the filthy looks you get! Where is the nearst wall again? Banging Head

Quite right, but what can you do? I think all those MP's in the expenses scandle, 99.99% of them by all accounts, should be sacked. god, a new lot of any party couldn't screw up as they have done and I mean from whichever party. Maybe we should set up a LR party. We could exempt LR from tax of any sort. BMW owners 10k tax right off etc.

I am actually trying to impart some useful information. It has been widely reported as 'showroom tax' in the media, therefore so as not not confuse the mater, the title shall remain as such. Rolling Eyes

New lr2 pothole tax to be levied.

Despite the devils spawn 4x4's keeping the uk going during our ice age. The damage caused by phat wheels and weight will be clawed back to repair our poor roads caused by lr2's. Money raised given to the "poor" to buy "green" normal cars to make them "inclusive" and to address their motoring "needs" safe innit boss? Live your life be free-lander
