Youths Littering

Sat in my office, and a kid pulls up and his passenger gets out and the driver throws a carrier bag out of the open door

When the passenger returns I hand him the said carrier bag back politely asking him to take his rubbish with him or use the bin provided.

Gobby back seat passeger, gobs off, passanger looks shocked and driver admits its his and says he didnt mean to through it out just into the footwell. Rolling Eyes been all polite and that i said "you have said it was yours take it with you,[bit more gobbing off from back seat] or i'll report you for littering as we get enough of it round here and i have noted your registration"

They then drive offwheel spinning Rolling Eyes , throwing it backout of the car and sticking V's up

I have rang the police, nothing to do with them unless they witness it Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Council took details of car etc and enforcement officer will contact me to discuss

My question is

Is it worth getting involved further, acting as witness etc as they'll know it was me, from my office, that grassed them up

Worse they get is a £75 fine nowadays

It just Censored me off Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hmmmmm Shocked Lollipop-men and litter-bugs are best avoided so it seems Whistle

I don’t think it is worth getting involved as you will only burden yourself with explanations to the authorities, maybe paper work to be filled in and worse still you might get a smack in the gob buy some unsavoury person you were trying to put right Shocked .

It may have something to over population as well, so a small war might sort it out a bit Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

npinks, difficult one really and one that I have an amount of experience of (of sorts)

Little angel kicked the top off a bollard outside my house. Him and a number of his mates were hanging around. He was leaning up against the bollard (that had just been repaired) I went to go and have a word and noticed it was broken. He was offensive to my wife, just genereally an offensive git. (I didn't see it happen, just guessed that it was him) It happened that the whole thing was witnessed by my neighbour, a surgeon!!

We both went to court and he was prosecutted for it. I was given a really hard time by the defense solicitor who accussed me of a number of things; making it all up, colluding with the copper and my neighbour, oh and being drunk. (I'd had two pints of beer and just got off a 13 hour flight from Shanghai...)

2 weeks after he was prosecutted, my wifes car had two bricks thrown at it. One on the drivers side that ended up on her seat and the other bounced off the back window. We live in a Semi, so it might have been for the neighbour, but it might not....

A defense lawyer drinks in my local and I spoke to him about it. Firstly, the "oik" was well known and it was "a matter of time". After the car incident, we were offered a lot of support from the Police. (They would respond quickly to calls etc. increased presence in the area for a period of time). One thing the lawyer asked me was would I stand up in court and do it again.

I would. Simply because, if I don't in the future then that person will get away with it another time. They will be aloud to think that no matter what they do they can just get away with it.
The biggest issue in modern society is that the vast majority of people think that they are powerless. They cannot make a difference because some noisey minority is spoiling it. BUT they are simply that. A minority. They are not even worth the effort. The only thing is, the effort must be made, by all of us, because if it isn't THEY will not change.

I'll get off my soapbox... anyone got an axe? Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Watched Traffic Cops earlier - they interviewed this traffic copper - I like my job searching out bad motorists; he said - I thought - Yes! cos it's a damn site easier than confronting, Druggies, Hoodies, or the tosser who might beat the crap out of my ageing Mother as she goes home with her Pension- AND of course they still get paid.
