Been to my local stealers today having a poke around in my potential FL2 GS TD4. I'm pretty happy with how it's all put together. The stereo is fine for a car, I'm sure any aftermarket satnav will fit in the cubby hole and the one in the showroom was baltic blue with chrome mirror caps , so overal If we can agree a price I'll have one.

But I forgot to check if the 12V sockets function when the ignition is off and key removed. Can anyone tell me if they're on or off? I use it to charge phones/ipods when parked up at work etc.

The car has 2x 12v outlets. The one in the back of the centre console is always on and will work without the key. The one at the front is activiated by ign. Like you I use mine to keep my mobile charged.

Now get yourself back down to your LR stealer and place that order!

That could have been a deal breaker, I test drove a new civic a few months ago, when *nothing* inside the car worked when the key was out I walked away.

on the sat nav front a Garmin Nuvi 610 (uk) or 660 (Europe) fits very well into slot i have one in my diesel xs Themanhimself

Hi all.

Was about to post my findings as I was experimenting with this today whilst using the car.

I can confirm that the front 12v socket works with ignition on only, the rear works regardless of the ignition position.
