The 2.2 L is produced by the Ford/PSA joint venture. This particular engine was designed by Ford at their Dunton and Whitley research centres. Based on compatible engine block PSA DW12.

PSA DW12
The 2.2 L (2179 cc) DW12 has a bore of 85 mm (3.3 in) and a stroke of 96 mm (3.8 in). Unlike the initial DW10 designs, it was fitted with 16 valves from the beginning, and made its debut in the 2000 with the Citroën C5 and Peugeot 607, being used only in the larger models. In 2006 it was added to the PSA/Ford family, with power reaching 170 PS (125 kW). Land Rover currently uses this engine in the new Freelander where it produces 160PS. This is Ford's only current use for this engine, which is expected to power the next generations of both the Mondeo and Jaguar X-Type. A different 2.2L engine, Ford's ZSD-422 with a displacement of 2198 cc, will be used in the Peugeot LCV range of vans.

Important to know is also that in the FL2, this engine utilises a variable geometry turbocharger with overboost function, rather than the twin turbo approach of Peugeot and Citroen. The result is 295 ft·lbf (400 Nm) of torque, although 310 ft·lbf (420 Nm) is temporarily available thanks to the transient overboost function.
The same engine with twin turbo develops "only" 370 Nm.

I for one will sleep soundly tonight now I've got that straight. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

That all depends.... Big Cry Went to the dealer as agreed to check the car out and sign the finance. The file has "disappeared" and the finance that was quoted on the email has now been retracted as the dealer cannot do it.

Shalln't name them as they are looking into what they can do.

1) Discount the car
2) Discount the finance

and, (they haven't realised this yet) Chuck in servicing for a year, up to date Sat Nav discs.

Not happy really as in my business, if someone drops a Censored, we work out how to fix it even if it costs us money. For some reason, we are all expected to know the fine detail of running dealership and should know that the numpties have made a mistake as they "Can't sell the car if they are going to loose money..."

Anyway to make it even better, the chuffin' car wasn't there either. "they went to pick it up this morning and should have been back at 12." (It was 2pm) I take it no one was overly concerned that one of their members of staff was AWOL for 2 hours....

I think that if they can knock 10%-15% off the screen price of the car then we will probably still have a deal.

I'll wait and see what happens.... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Grrrr I'm angry for you Twisted Evil
Agreed don't name anyone until the dealer principal has explained exactly what the position is...but no file and no car Shocked someone's having a laugh and it ain't funny.

Ok. So they have done a few things.

Knocked £ 1000.00 off the car. Doing the finance at "cost" Working on the first service and DVDs for the Sat Nav.

In real terms, the finance was originally quoted at 1.1% APR and based on the original costs and the balloon that they want it works out a tad over 5% now. Not ideal, but they have done something. I am a great believer in that big wheel turning. I had agreed to buy the car and the Manager has put together something that makes sense. So, I'll be going back this evening to sign the paperwork and check the car out. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Basically £1000.00 off the screen price and I agreed the deal on the finance. It works out for me, the monthly costs are ok, but I've now got a balloon payment in 4 years. Put away a bit each year to cover that. It has done 21K as a demo / staff car. The garage are doing the 30k / 2 year service and are giving me a voucher for the next service. They have included the 09/10 satnav Dvd. All in I guess it is worth nearly 2k off the car. So although they didn't complete the deal as agreed with the sales person, they have come up with a solution that is mutually acceptable. I didn't "win" but certainly didn't loose. So, Marshalls Land Rover in Cambridge, Thankyou. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

As long as you're happy with the deal Thumbs Up

I can't stand it when some one whelches on a deal, I'd go elsewhere and try and do a better deal spurred on by it. You're bound to find a salesman somewhere who needs to make his numbers up.
