Tow hitch recovery points

aaagh!! I finally plucked up the courage to spend $1800 on getting the tow bar fitted by LR, with the primary intention of using it as an offroad recovery point, witgh a bushranger (or similar) shackle insert.....only to find that the LR tow hitch receiver is a 40mm square section, whilst every other standard fitting is a 50mm sqaure section.

Does anybody know where I can get a 40mm recovery point? or an alternative that will suffice!

Frustrated with LR to say the least!

Remove the towball and put the shackle through the hole. Censored me off to that LR skimped on the FL2 towbar. Can they get the towbar right on any of their vehicles? The D3 towbar was an absolute joke.

I couldn't agree more. I eneded up pulling the LRA 40mm bar off, getting a part refund from the dealer and fitting a Hayman Reese 50mm Bar. Much better bar and takes all standard fittings. The HR bar was $500 fitted. The trailer wiring was already there though.

i spoke to the dealer and they wouldn't give me any refund on the tow bar.

I am going to just use the pin as the recovery hitch....have tried it twice already down Walpole / Denmark way. didn;t take long on the soft sand to need a tow out!
