Zymol

Has anybody had their cars treated with Zymol and if so, what did you think? Also, can anyone recommend a mobile service?

Re: Zymol

My wife's into car detailing in a big way and uses Zymol amongst a myriad of other products. I'm trying to get her to work on my FL2 as soon as I can prise her away from her own vehicle! I'll put some photos in the gallery if I'm successful.

Seems that the choice of products is very much based on personal experiences but Swissvax is also a popular choice.

I've used zymol on all my cars for years. Really works beautifully and keeps everything ship shape. I wax about every 3 months and wash weekly. My wife's 05 Mini cabrio and my '03 Freelander SE3 both look brand new and my 1991 Range Rover looks a lot better than a 16 yr old off-road vehicle should at that age! Highly recommend zymol.

Zymol

According to the advertisements of Zymol and Swissoil in Germany their products are primarily used for oldtimer paint-protection.
However, their production line offers car-waxes for most paint-specs incl. modern water-based clear coats.
I have used Zymol and Swissoil in the past but have given up due to the extreme time you require to apply the products as recommended, besides the high cost. And in comparison with other good products, the stability (duration) of paint gloss and protection was not better.
So I have changed to products such as Liquid Glass from Petzolds (THE car paint protection specialist in Germany) Megiuars Gold Wax or A1 Speed Wax+3 from Dr. Wack in Germany. All such 3 products are very good with excellent gloss and protection, easy to use and durable. And they cost only half or 1/3 of the price of Zymol or Zwissoil.

I have recently washed and then waxed the car using "Auto Glyms Liquid wax", which can be used without fully drying the car.

Was very easy to use and gave the car a nice clean shine, no streaks, even on the windows.

Water is beading off still 3 weeks later.

Does anybody know a good product that removes the slight scratches/marks from the plastic wing mirror housing, as I have hit a bush driving down a narrow lane. I have tried things like Auto Glym bumper car, which polished it up but still visable

Hi,

Where can you buy these products in Germany, is there a chain of car accessory shops that stocks them ?
I'm heading to Germany on Holiday in a couple of weeks, so I might be able to pick up some new stuff whilst there !

Regards

Car wax

Hi Cypress
The products Liquid Glass and Megiuars Gold Wax can only be bought through Petzolds in Hagen/Westf.
Please visit their web-site www.petzolds.de or google. But Liquid Glas and Meguiars are not cheap!
The products from Dr. Wack AG such as A1 Speed Wax and Speed Polish can be bought from ATU / Auto Teile Unger in one of their branches. Price is around EUR 15/16,00. I use A1 now for a long time as it offers the best value for price with excellent results on shine and protection and ease of use.

Hi Guys. As promised I've put some pics in the Detailing album of my gallery. The wife spent almost six hours working on the car. There's a lot more to this detailing business than just shampoo and polish, I was told! After wetting and foaming the proper wash was done with Zymol shampoo. This was followed by JetSeal 109 paint sealant and two coats of wax. Instead of Zymol she used Victoria Concours wax which is recommended for red/orange finishes. The alloys were also treated with JetSeal - it really brings out the finish. Also got interior valet. I knew there was a good reason for marrying her!! Now I'm looking forward to getting it muddy again. Hope the pics speak for themselves.

Funny, I was always happy with a Brillo pad and some Cif before . . . Rolling with laughter

Thanks to all for the information. After some research I have determined that Autoglym offers the best value for money. A local firm is going to apply the Autoglym Lifeshine product for £150 complete with complimentary aftercare kit and 5 year guarantee. Two major points to bear in mind, it is a British product and is also some £200 cheaper than the quotes for Zymol (circa £350). I will post an update after work is carried out on 5 Sept.

Have a look on ebay, if you have the time, you can by the kit, less the after car products for about £20, doesn't come with guarantee but you would save £130.

I had it done on my old vectra and kia sportage, paid good money out and after selling and writting off the Kia both within a year, i decided that if i polish the car myself i would keep the same shine that it gave

Good luck

Good luck with chemo- I finished a 6 month stretch of chemo last May so I can relate to what you're going through. Hang in there, and do things you enjoy doing when you can.
