I would have said if you live to far from school to walk the children park 1/4 mile away and give them some excercise.
The idea of the zig zags surely is to keep the school area clear of cars inorder to make it safer and make other road users able to see children who do not always use the correct crossing point. Whilst I can agree that you were not parked on them surely you can see that your parked car was a potential hazzard infront of a school which could distract other drivers attention and children could end up crossing from behind it. Regardless of the law I think your lollypop man was just using common sence even if he went about it the wrong way(abit like me here probably). No offence intended.

On our Aussie farm retreat, we had a Python living in the chicken shed Very useful for keeping the rats and mice numbered. However when he got too big and changed his diet, we had to have him moved a suitable distance away There must be a moral to that story somewhere

It could be argued that by parking opposite the school it restricts the traffic flow to one way thus making it safer to cross the road from the school side to the other side, so all good @ hometime, but in the morning kids will be crossing the other way and parked cars would reduce the visibility of crossing pedestrians to car drivers
