Washing regime

I've recently stumbled upon another world of car washing on the web and am amazed at how many steps people follow to get their motors clean (just do a google on 'clay detailing!' Smile ).

Having been a very traditional hosepipe, bucket, sponge and chamois kinda guy all my life, I wondered if anyone else treated their pride and joys to anything a little more involved - if so, is it worth it? Can you really tell the difference ?

My Baby shines all the time.

I had the A Glaze professional treatment on my car beofore I took delivery. It was one of those extra money spinning add ons the dealer offered. Must say it is very good. 5 yr G'tee and leaves a permanent wax like protection to car. Also inside was treated with Scotchguard type protection. Have a look at the A Glaze web site for more info.

Very Happy

I have the elbow greece regime,

which is made easier by Auto Glym, P21s Citrus Alloy Wheel cleaner (Excellant product), Flash water filter system (not the soap) for a spot free rince. Finished off with polish every couple of months

But if you have the money (I don't) www.miracledetail.co.uk is where I would be going £5k for the top wash. The guy is a genius

let me just warn you guys about clay detailing...most detailing clays meant to be used as an annual or bi-annual paint maintenance but most car enthusiast nowadays clay their vehicles frequently and this can begin to clear or dull the vehicles coat finish if used improperly. Please remember that Clay Detailer contains abrasive materials you can check it's content and it will clearly say it. Also clay detailing are for year old vehicles not just months like our LR2's Very Happy

If you want a crystal shine just do what boiledgnat and I do.."traditionally" a hosepipe, a bucket, a sponge, a chamois, a meguiars quick detailer spray or turtle wax or any fine waxes, and "3-4 hours of your time!" Shocked

Oh this is easy... its Meguiars all the way...

Once you've washed your baby with the Gold Class Shampoo, there's no going back!

The whole range is fab.... yeah, it's a bit more expensive than most, but I've been really pleased with the results.

Cheers,

David

one thing I've learned after 40 years of washing cars is never to use a sponge.

always use a good quality car wash brush, as a sponge will always eventually give you very light paint scratches.

may not appear until the car is say over 10 years old, depending on how often you wash it of course, but take it from me washing with a sponge is detrimental the paint finish.

Car detailing

Have a look in the Detailing album of my gallery. It shows the fruits of 6 hours of the wife's labours on the car. This was stimulated by the Zymol topic on the Forum.
