You made the mistake of honestly taking it in to the dealers yourself.
If you had called LRA out and they took it to the dealers and can't fix it LRA give you a car. If you take it in yourself and they can't fix it they seem to be reluctant to give you a car.
When the same thing happened to me and a dealer refused to give me a car another dealer told me I should have called LRA out and they would have had to give me a car. He whispered it like I wasn't supposed to have sussed that.

Strange but true.

Snappa if LRA just attend and get you going to the dealers under your own steam, you get a car to Whistle Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yeah I made the mistake of thinking "Oh I won't bother LRA I will drive my car to the dealer myself even though it doesn't seem very safe"

But I take the hint Thumbs Up Whistle

Yes, I have certainly learnt it would be better to call LRA rather than limp to the dealer, at least others on her will have seen the postings and should they be unlucky they will know what to do.
Still find it strange in this day and age that it is still off the road which this afternoon will be 7 days for a simple sensor for the crankshaft. Still live and learn. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

My dealer told me if I have to break down, make sure it's over half a mile away from their premises and call LRA to qualify for a hire car.

I've had it happen twice. Called LRA, no LR tech, so they got the AA, who arranged a replacement car and manged to get the vehicle working enough to limp into the dealers.

No problem, but with Enterprise, you have a 500 squid plus excess, unless you pay a tenner a day for zero. So beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work in a Kia/Suzuki dealership and it is the same here. If you bring the car in under your own steam you will get a courtesy car if one is available, however if KIa/Suzuki asist bring you in then you get a car immediately from them.

I have found that LR assist are nothing short of brilliant when i have needed them with my FL1. I broke down on the outskirts of Edinburgh on a Saturday afternoon near Christmas. We had travelled from Sunderland for a weekend break. My car has been to Stratstone earlier that day and had two new injectors fitted and they did not attach something properly so i ended up with Derv Censored ing all over the engine block. Anyway phone LR assist and they appionted a local agent to pick the vehicle up. They were there within 45 minutes and uplifted the car to Stratstone Edinburgh who were obviosuly closed for the weekend. LR assist offered me a car immediatly which i declined as i would be bussing everywhere when i was in Edinburgh but on Monday morning the had a car outside my hotel first thing, and said that if i decided to go home they would delivery my car back from Edinburgh to Sunderland and pick up the Hire car.

Stratstone Ediburgh were a different class and nothing was problem for them, infact when i was looking for my FL2 they were the first place i rang. Hats off to them. Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

Still no news on when mine is back, nine days now waiting for a Crankshaft Sensor. Still the loan car isn't so bad, I have taken Carnoch's good advice Bow down a taken the £10 pound a day or £40 a week excess. Trouble is it's Black and needs washing everyday if it were mine. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
