New Freelander 2

I'm planning on buying a new Freelander 2 in the next 2 months, however I'm wondering if there would be a facelift to this model in the next 6-12 months? (Its been on the market for >3 years, and cars typically have a midlife refresh) As I'm buying new, it might be worth waiting out a little longer.. thoughts anyone??

Thanks

I'm looking at the base-spec 'Black' Special Edition... In addition to the Sport version, are these the mild refreshes you refer to?

Reason I ask is that the Discovery and RR models have all received a neater frontend.. just wondered if this was coming up soon on the Freelander 2

Morning - Well if you review the forum you will see that the LRX is well under way with a launch next year but were just guessing on prices £35/£40k ??? and if it will really look like the released pictures Shocked
As for the Freely you can see on the LR website that they have added the White SE and Sport LE to the S, GS, XS and HSE line up.
I suppose no one can really answer your question and if you ask a dealer of course they will want you to buy a car now Laughing
See what everyone elses opinions are and then your going to have to make a judgement - but you've picked the right car Thumbs Up

As mentioned before, I think the FL2 did receive a mild refresh last year when the spec of the GS was brought up near the earlier XS version I think.

Slightly off topic I know
I have just paid a deposit for the new MY2010 GS manual. We first went to the Land Rover dealers asking about the White and Black special edition but on looking at the spec for those and then comparing it with the GS, we didnt take long to realise that going for the GS was much better value even though it was about 4K dearer.
Besides, the finance offers on the GS are much better than the Black / White editions.

I would suggest looking for the GS or above as it will hold its value better when you come to sell it.
I am no expert as I don't even have my FL2 yet but just my opinion.

Enjoy it all the same whatever version you do buy. I cant wait to get mine delivered. Very Happy

Yes... resale is a concern, as 'refreshed' cars always have an immediate knock on values of older.

I also considered going for the GS, XS or Sport spec, but in the end went for the 'Black SE'. I know it's base, but the build quality/solidness seems much better than my old Jap 4x4 Smile I didn't worry about the finance and they gave an additional discount which wasnt too bad... so £19k for a Freelander is a great..

This is an excellent forum by the way!!

Yep, I found some stuff on the Internet saying a new facelift model for 2011. Puts you off buying to a degree.

If you worried about that you would never buy a car Sad Buy the one you want now and enjoy it who cares if the bumper changes shape or it gets a new button on the trim, even the mighty Defender changes every 10 years or so Shocked

True, but you don't want to buy the first batch of a new model, until the teething problems have been sorted, then you don't want to buy one too late into manufacture because if they change moels, you'll loose money instantly. Look at the FL1 and the deals there were on the remaining stock. Therer is no easy answer.

Another example is the Disco 4. It's basically a facelift D3, apart from the inside switches, it's got a remodelled grille and lights, rear lights and another sie vent, but it will have an effect on D3 second hand prices. If it ain't broke, don't mend it.
