Turn signal position in rear light cluster

Today I was driving two vehicles behind a FL2 and when it signalled to turn to right I did not see the rear signal light ,although I could see outside end of the rear light cluster. Just wondering why LR decided to put the signal light in the inner half of the light cluster and reverse light on to the outer half of it. Would have improved the visibility of the signal light and also probably looked better if ioutside half used for the signal. Question

Looked at other cars and generally the signal light is positioned towards the outside of the car rather then towards the middle. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

Just a thought. The reversing lights need to have as wide a spread as possible to aid in reversing on the mirrors so are on the outside. The indicators are viewed from behind so are in board.
Might be wrong but there is a certain logic to it.

It's the good idea. I like it.
A Freelander is an enough wide car therefore its signal lights have to be seen well.

Had a look inside the light cluster, although the signal light and the reverse light are of the same spec the bulb holder is slightly different just to prevent them going in to wrong positions, otherwise I would have already swapped the bulbs around.. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

As I already have LEDs for the front signal which has very sharp ON-OFF the rear bulbs looks very different when they blink, once they start blinking they only go dark before lighting up again so wanted to replace the rear bulbs with LEDs as well.
Got a pair of LEDs for the rear turn and while fitting I swapped the location with the reverse light. Had to fit a resistor to prevent double flashing. This is how it looks now.
