Side protection bars

Are they worth it ? Do they really protect? Not the the steps you understand.
Do they cut down on ground clearance? Do they stop numpties from opening their doors into you?

I notice that quite a few of you have them fitted (try doing a search and see how many posts are returned just because it features in members signatures!)

Considering the Black ones - Duckworths have them on special offer at the moment and they seem like a useful addition.

Let me know what you think. There's always a way forward!

I would go for it Thumbs Up

The don't protect from door knocks etc but off roading they do protect the sill quite a lot

I actually have two pairs, one for on and one set for off road which are slightly dented due to protecting me Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi NPinks

Sounds like you are little biased - a pair for best? what is all that about!

How far do they protrude below the normal sills - do they get in the way when you are off road - I guess your new one won't have seen much mud yet?

Scores on the doors at the moment suggest more Bling than practical but its close. There's always a way forward!

@drownedRat

I had a pair and when off roading I hit them by going over a few bumps with a liitle too much speed so bottomed out the car, the bars saved the sills but got a little dented and scraped in doing so, those at Tong might recall me having to bounce on them as a bent a bracket too

so I now have a set for off roading and bought a second set for normal use on the road with no dents,

I think they also fill a a space between the wheels and makes the car look better Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
