I'm looking at getting a FL2, as strange as it may seem one major factor that could make or break a deal is the quality of the headlights.

Is that because the Xenons are superbly excellent, or because the halogens are just plain crap? I appear to be addicted to Landrovers...

If I was ordering a new vehicle I would certainly have Xenons. The standard halogens are OK and better than some new cars which I have used. I fitted uprated bulbs, +80% to dip and +50% to main beam. The reason for this is if main is very much better than dip and you have driven for some time on main(quiet roads!!!!) you feel dip is poor, not so handy when you meet something. Especially the ever growing no. of cars with headlamps out of alignment or H7 bulbs wronly located in fitting.

I am getting the xenon one, and I wonder why they still have an adjustment on FL2 with the xenons. Any german car with xenons adjusts the lights automatically, and fl2 don't?

when you say automatically, do you mean the vertical movement, like if you have a heavy load?

All Fl2's (in fact any car sold in Europe with Xenon lights) has automatic levellling. It is required by EU law Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys |

Hmm, Xenons have to have an auto levelling feature to be legal!

My daily commute is 100 miles, 1/4 of that is down tiny country lanes totally unlit, quite narrow in places but with a fia rbit of traffic in places. I find my current headlights so poor that with oncoming traffic i'm guessing where the road has gone most of the time which is horrible.

In which case go for xenons. All the launch cars had them, and any LR press vehicle does, so suspect that dealers are not listing. Might be worth the AFS system if you are going to keep the car long term? Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys |
