Mine runs permanently on V-Power Diesel, you have probably noticed a drop in MPG because you are pushing the car more getting the extra performance.

We have tried it at our works and it made no difference to MPG on our vehicles, but we did find that normal Shell Diesel we get about 2 to 3 more miles per gallon compared to other brands.

Good to know it keeps the engine cleaner, but I am driving more conservatively with V+ (not pushing it more). ad210358: I always use Shell Diesel (normal) anyway as its the station right opposite my business. So I'm getting weird results???? |

Maybe, but to see an instant drop in fuel enonomy was quite shocking to say the least. |

I try to use BP fuels as much a possible as most manufacturers and vehilce test facilitys I've used seem to think its the best - less smoke too |

Proplus, is it the mind over matter syndrone, its like when you have had a problem with your FL2 and you collect it after repair it feels great and it seems quieter and goes better, with the fact you thought that you were about to run out of fuel but you filled it just in time, the rush you get from not having run out makes you feel as though its running better? p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

I wouldn't say so, when I first put V+ in I deliberately made sure I drove the same way to see how much better fuel economy I'd get from paying more for V+. I've been using the FL2 just for commuting to work in the last 3 weeks, so same route and journey everyday, so same distance. Also, 2 tanks of V+ with the same results. I just filled the FL2 with Shell normal diesel, immediately I find it drove different (as to V+, but back to what it was like before), so I think its going to go back to approx 33mpg....will do the maths when this tank of fuel runs out. |

It would be nice if there were a way of doing a simple fuel quality comparison, particularly since my best ever economy was achieved with Morrisons Supermarket fuel |

Makes sense that, your engine would be thinking "Yuk I can't drink this" p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Yes it will, the ECU has a learning capability. Mine took about 3/4 tanks full to learn the new fuel to the full and get good results. If you then go back to cheap stuff, the ECU will learn the cheaper fuel. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Its very interesting hat Mav71 is saying as I never quite know whether to believe the hype or not. Certainly if the guy at LR is saying that the fuel is better for the engines and emissions and because I dont do a high mileage I would always use the premium fuel.
