How can this be so. I drove up the M6 tonight, and each stretch of "Roadworks" (nowt occuring) had signs above it to the effect that they had narrowed the lanes for my safety. This is simply preposterous . How can it be safer if the merest swerve from some F***wit in another lane puts me in jeapardy?

Forcebly reducing the speed when it needs to be Seems at long last the UK is begining to follow other countries sensible driving rules Mr. Doc, your comment about Hiter Youth hopfully was meant as a stupid joke, as it has NOTHING to do with road safety 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. I agree with the reduction in speed, but what I am talking about is the reduction in lane width, as I said?? Indus Silver

They have sections of Motorway with average speed cameras set to detect anyone averaging more than 50. Ergo, it keeps people at 50, unless one is unable to understand the concept of average. As it was, most people do less than 50, and traffic was nose to tail.

So why are they on our roads all the time? At work At home "I can't always believe facts I read on the web" - Charles Dickens winner by default of the tractor vs caravan race |

People's brains tell them to slow down when they see the road ahead narrowing, this theory is used in speed calming measures in housing estates by use of traffic islands. A lot of people are not able to judge the width of their vehicles very well ! and so slow down to avoid colliding with the islands?

But mate were not talking about a housing estate, were talking about a motorway some people can't even drive in a straight line on a good day never mind on a motorway doing 50 MPH. |
