Bigger non start problem

Hi all

Over the last three months I have had the non-start/trip reset problem 4 times and the radio freeze twice, but last night had something new.
Car refused to start, and I did the usual take the fob out and try again, still refused to start, but this time the information display had no information on it and a 5mm wide band rapidly scrolling down the screen, together with the mileage display flickering.
Tried getting out and locking the car and getting back in and retrying – still no joy but from outside could still see the band merrily scrolling down (although the display was now not illuminated).
Gave up and called LandRover assistance (who answered the phone BMW assistance – but that’s another story).
To cut a long story short, before they arrived I had left the car locked for about 10 minutes, returned and the scrolling had stopped, the normal display came up, the ignition would turn on but still no start.
After about another 20 minutes they arrived, they climbed in pushed the start button and, as Sods Law dictates, it started first time, did I feel a plonker or what Embarassed . The guy was not from LandRover (apparently they don’t work at 10.00pm) but from a local recovery company. He had not heard of a problem like this, so it’s a call to the dealer this morning to try to find out more. Has anyone else had anything like this?
Just as a foot note – the trip did not reset with this non start problem

Hi andrewilk. Have you upgraded your car software? If yes then I can only wish you good luck and lots of patience. Thumbs Up

I have the same problem. I found out everything is back in order after few minutes. I was very worried the first time it happened (I had the car for 2 days!!!). I did the same than you, I called assistance and by the time i was back in the car I could restart it! I went then to the dealer who kept it for 5 days...without actually solving anything as I still have the problem but very rarely.I pay attention while I insert and remove the key to wait for the unlock/lock.

I didn't have the software upgrade yet...
Regarding the radio, I have it also...by time to time.

I am not to worried about it now as I know (by experience as it happened around 10 times to me) the fault is clearing after couple of minutes, and I am never in a so big rush that I can't wait few minutes.
I enjoy my freelander 2 and driving it is a real pleasure. Anyone who experienced a shipwreck is worried in front of calm seas.

I have had the non-start/trip reset problem two times and the radio freeze once. Does the soft ware upgrade work?

So far I have had no problems since the upgrades. The radio also displays the clock when it is switched off

My radio already shows the time when it is off and I still have had the no start/trip wiped problem. Is there a further software upgrade.

I was told I had two software upgrades, one for the audio system & one for the engine management unit, so you may need to ask your dealer for the EMU upgrade.

I have changed the radio block after 3 batteries went flat.

Anyhow, when i close the car the radio is off an NO clock is shown.

Last three times it appeared me a message: Srs in place of the partial mileage display ...

what does it means??

Please Help I LOVE my FL2

SRS is the airbags and seat belt tensioners checking themselves,

Safety Restraint System

I asked my dealer and he said only worry if it stays on perminantly with the red airbag light.

Had the instrument pack patch and ECU patch about 7 weeks ago and can report all is fine.

The starting issue took about 3 attempts to resolve but the latest patch works. Just make sure your foot is well and truly planted to the floor on the clutch pedal.

I finally get rid of my car this Saturday, AUTO here we come!!!, just to mention (don't want to tempt fate) the non start has now gone away............. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up HOWEVER Evil or Very Mad the 'traction reduced warning beep and display drives me round the twist as this comes on, must be every journey, sometimes within half a mile of starting the engine, definately within 3 miles....If the warning screen clears, and the info arrow dissappear on my 13 mile journey to work the beep and display will reappear at least three more times on the one journey.

I am looking forward to no more sodding beebing...its driving me nuts!!!!!

If it ever gets fixed by the stealer be cautious buying a used HSE in Stornaway with black tints, DVD screens, side pipes, polished cill trims, adaptive headlights rear spolier and cargo nets.........it has baggage!!! Can't tell you the reg number as I'm taking it with me to the new car...so be afraid, be very afraid!!!! Twisted Evil SHE IS OUT THERE!!!!!!
