Air ventilation set to recycled air

How do you set the air ventilation so that it is on 'recycled' air permenantly?

I can hold the button for about 2 seconds and it remains recycle, but on every startup it automatically sets back to 'outside' air.

Living in the City, you really don't want to be inhaling exhaust fumes all day.

If you have the Automatic Climate Control, there is an automatic function that automaticaly blocks smelly outside air then unblocks when you drive in the clean fresh countryside (except in Yorkshire where it remains on recycle the whole time) Thumbs Up
Read page 102 - 104 of the Owners Handbook Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Keeping the button pressed until the LED flashes 3 times will force the recycle to stay on but it will revert again to outside at the next engine start. The best option as AndyC suggested would be to use Auto function if you have the pollution sensor ( I think it only comes in HSE spec). Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

What way does enter inside air into a system of a ventilation in 'recycled'?
