Dealer approved remap

This might interest a few.

I enquired about a power upgrade today via my local LR dealer. (Leicestershire)
Turns out they use an independant chap approved by them & it won't affect the warranty.
It's a simple procedure using a laptop. No cut wires, no changing of ECU or chips, no bolt-on boxes - just a simple software upgrade.

Power increase is 30-35bhp, torque increase of 80lbft & up to 10% better fuel ecconomy depending on how it is driven.
Price is £450 plus the VAT.

Have just got off the phone to the guy - (very pleasant chap) now having it done in January. Mr. Green

And that goes completely against a memo sent out to dealers last year by LR telling them to stop doing remaps as it invalidates the warranty Shocked

I'm sure if you check this remap out with LRCS they put you straight Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Eh? Sorry, but you're way off the mark. (no pun intended)
It was simply an innocent, friendly post relaying what I though might be some useful info to some on here.

I'll stick to driving freight trains for a living as opposed to tuning vehicles, thanks.

No problem Mark

it dies seem expensive though.... And I concerned over there approved claim

Is it just a remap or is it a removable remap, like the ones Disco3 sponsor offers which can be removed when going to the dealers if you wished ?

BTW d3 member budweiser has one of these for sale for £450 used but reset to new by bell auto services Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I thought it was the going rate, myself.
The salesman definitely said it wouldn't affect the warranty. To be honest, I'll get it in writing from him before I have it done for obvious reasons.

Was told it was permanent. Sort of.
He said there might be the odd occasion where it reverts back to factory standard if the dealer has to do some sort of upgrade within the system for whatever reason, but he'd put it back on free-of-charge - which is fair enough.

To be honest, I've had more than my fair share of remaped cars in the past - all without any problems whatsoever, so I've every bit of confidence in the way the whole process works. Very Happy

Get it in writing from LANDROVER UK, not a dealer-as LANDROVER DO NOT allow any deviation from original factory specification and this WILL void your warranty even if it's a claim for something totaly unrelated.

I was told by a super-chip franchise that they do MAPS for the very same dealer who grassed me up. Twisted Evil

ps. Don't don't mention on here if you have it done and you or your vehicle can be identified from your
postings-I.E. Your area, dealer you use, name, nickname, pictures in gallery, list of your previous recalls etc. they trawl this site and DO NOT need evidence apart from your own Admittance.

TRUST ME ON THIS ONE Rolling Eyes

ROWY

pps I definatley do not have a remap on MY car and never have/will have. Whistle

If this is the dealership that is located in a town about 15 miles north of Leicester, then it is not warranty approved. There is not a re-map available that does have LR approval.

They will just install the original map before any warranty claim. I am not saying that the re-map is a bad one, as I am sure it is good, but they can't tell you that it is warranty approved. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Not quite accurate... It's true that LR will not endorse or allow dealers to remap vehicles, however, doing so DOES NOT void the warranty, if a dealer KNOWS (as in can prove) that a vehicle has been remapped, that vehicle is placed on the restricted warranty register, this means that LR have to approve any warranty claims for any part of the drivetrain. All other warranty claims are unaffected, dependent upon the issue, LR cannot refuse to carry out a warranty repair purely due to it having an engine remap

Your right in what your saying, Yes, the warranty will only be effected by the parts directly linked to the modification carried out.

But I think it was the insinuation that all the warranty will be null and void. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
