Has anyone had any experience with installing new brake pads, I am going to attempt to do this myself this sunday. I am on my way o pick up the parts this morning. The pads are very spendy.

My vehicle has 75000 kms the fronts have 3mm remaining and the rears zero

I've done fronts and rears, they were very straightforward if you've ever done brake work before, no surprises. Well, other than how much more room to work there is compared to my 3-Series BMW  Greg East

I have replaced the pads.....NO PROBLEMS. Except for my sore knees and back.......Getting too old to do this....But it was fun.

The rotors actually showed very little wear. While I was under there I took the time to lubricate any moving parts, pivot points. Cleaned the wheel wells with tire dressing. Looks brand new again.

Took the vehicle around the block, keeping a slight pressure on the brakes to run them in.  Vic Benson

There was a first replacement of pads? Guys in our country usually replace their after 35000-40000 kms. I have only 24000 kms.

Yes it was the first time the pads were replaced. I have a Toyota Rav 4 company car and it has 115000 kms with the original brakes. Your drivers must be wild in your country.????????  Vic Benson

There have as well as everyplace different drivers.
A question arises- Either we don't know how to drive or have cars for our country not very good pads?
I would like to get to know milages without a replacement brake pads which other Freelander's drivers have.

Or just that you brake a lot more often eg less long distance motorway driving? 

True about the type of driving a person does. My wife drives the LR2 to and from her work every day one hour each way. So there is little city type braking on the way there, but when she gets into the town she works in there is a lot of braking.

With the vehicle I drive, I do a lot of driving on the highway and in cities and overall I would say I do a lot of braking.

I do my best to brake well before I need to stop, so much of the exercise of braking is done without applying a lot of pressure to the pedal, my wife has similar driving habits.

In Canada many of the vehicles including trucks, traditionally see 100,000 kms on a set of brakes. I dont know why. My previous vehicle an accura 1.6 (small vehicle) did 110,000 kms before changing brakes. On of my fellow workers told me this morning that he had 100,000 kms on his chevy 1/2 ton truck before changing brakes.

My son has a Ford F150 truck which has about 80,000 kms. He had the brakes checked out at a dealer the other day and he was told that his brakes look NEW??

Otherways LR emplaces for our country pads worse than for Canada. Climates of our countrys show resemblance. I cannot think of a different reason

There is a passible reason

Lar it is not always like the pictures, we have terrible traffic jambs. Some days when I drive to
Toronto the traffic is gridlocked for miles and miles.

Trips to Hamilton are the same way.

Tonight I drove to Kitchener which is 1 hour from my town, Brantford, it took one hour and just outside of Kitchener the traffic was backed up for miles.
