Landrover Experience - N Yorkshire

Had some fun yesterday, a few pictures on the gallery and I also got two video's (By mobile phone so sorry not too good quality).
The first one I've put on youtube and named it Freelander 2 - elephants feet. This part of the offroad course was apparently designed for the RR + RRS + Disco with the lifting air suspension as the ruts are quite deep. Our instructor thought he'd give the Freel2 a go....
The second is named Freelander 2 - wheel lift.

If my son is as clever as he says he is, there will be 2 links below:

The guy trying to pull the car down is one of the other instructors - Our driver (who said he was the No. 1 instructor) radio'd all the cars out on the course to meet up and watch. Thought it was just a usual 'show off' technique but apparently not done before.
The laugh is courtesy of me ....... Laughing

Excellent! I now have some idea of what it is capable of! Thumbs Up

I have bagged a half day at Coniston (FOC courtesy of LRO mag Comp) in Feb but have asked for ride / drive in a D4 - Did course in a D3 last year and had lots of fun. It seems thta they tailor the sessions for each model and as FL2 is not expected to be taken that far off road then it tends to be a bit tamer. That said - last time I went the instructors gave lots of hints and tips on how to get the best out of your FL2. Well worth the trip. There's always a way forward!

2011 Freelander Td4 GS 150 - Rimini Red - in its place - Better x far x 4!!

He was called Adrian.
Launch control testing was one of his favourites (left foot brake, revs to 2k, foot off brake and stamp on the gas)- we did it a few times.
Also did a side by side 10metre race on grass with a TDV6 Disco - it just couldn't get the power down...beat it easily Thumbs Up

Thanks for posting video brought back some very good memories. I went there early this year and had a great day. I got a freebie by entering a competition on the land rover web site, but paid some money when i got there so that I could dive. My instructor was Ronnie & he was very good and let me drive over the elephants feet & lots of other obsticles. After which I was even more pleased with my choice of auto Fl2. I'd stongly recommend going on the Land rover experience if you get the offer. George

Good team at Consiton Hall - Adrian did my level 1 in a Disco2 then I had Ronnie for level 2 (morning in D2 then pm in Defender). Adrian then gave me and Mrs B our free half day (sales) trial in FL2 before I decided to buy and I had a differnt guy take my full day in FL2 later. Since then I had a go round the farm and quarry at the Gt Yorks Showground with Ronnie as part of Ripon LR's 2009 winter event. They are doing it again in January. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

My instructor at Coniston, North Yorks was Glen Mckeith, a senior instructor with seemingly no nerves at all. A very decent guy and fund raiser for African charities. See his web site here if you're interested.

Another thumbs up for Glen, we had a half day in RR a couple of weeks ago and Glen looked after my wife, she wasn’t sure at first but she really enjoyed the day and Glen and team were great, as we were nearly an hour late for the start.
