Same as Tups74, though at moterway speeds i average 36mpg unless going over 80mph then there is a big drop in mpg. |

With our I6 gas/petrol engine we see 19 mpg US around town and on the highway/motorway we see 24 mpg US, which, if my math is correct, is ~23/29 mpg Imperial.

I did a run at the weekend - Bedford to Bristol, and back again, and only got 33mpg, with 2000 miles on the clock, averaging between 70 and 80 on the motorway. I really expected a bit more on a decent run! |

Hi UKdave104, for good fuel consumption see my posting in 'General - fuel consumption TD4, page 2' got 45.8mpg from Bedford to Newcastle and back, trick is, don't go over 70mph, stick to approx 60mph speed up down hills to use gravity and build up speed before hills to use your momentum going up them and throttle off as you go up, at junctions and trafiic light/ roundabouts read the traffic and signals so you never stop. Its mind deadening but works just keep as much load off the engine as possible. Only did this the once for the laugh. I normally return about 34-36.6mpg having a 13 mile commute to work.

Had my 2.2 HSE since March '07. Its manual and MPG seems some what off the mark (not the combined 37.9mph in the glossy brochure ?), I seem to get on average around 33mph rural and town driving and 31/32ish mpg on the motorway doing approx 80mph. Does anyone see anything better when driving normally (tried with Eco Airconditioning mode on no great improvements). Its run in as have done >7.2K in her.

I average 36.7 and have done for the past 12000 miles or so however my speedo undereads by about 7mph at 75mph ie satnav says75 car speedo says 82 the mpg computation is done using the speedo reading so I will be getting a false mpg and in fact it will be on average a 8 to 10 % overestimation ie I'm actually getting 33mpg this is a common practice with car manufacturers to boost apparent mpg by incorrectly calibrating speedos the margin of error allowed is 10%.having sais allof that I couldn't care less as it's such a good car .You could allways borrow a satnav and find out your true mpg |

My average has dropped from 32 to 35 after tuning. I have a TD4 HSE manual; > 10.000 km. Occasionally I measured 38 mpg for 800 km. I drive with a soft foot. All calculated fuel consumptions.

Mork, I just got rid of my manual for an auto, but was getting same as Tandemman approx 36.7 mpg average. Bset I ever got was 46.8mpg I think, but that was 'sad barstard' driving not going over 65mph...judging traffic so I did not have to stop the car always where possible kept it rolling......for once I was holding up caravaners and pi55ing them off Worst mpg was in the auto 8.5mpg from a standing start, lowest I got the manual was 12.1 doing the same start.

On a regular 140 mile journey with my XS TD4 I always got about 37, with my SE it's always been around 39.

With an Auto TD4 SE I'm now getting an average of around 32 - 33 mpg, according to the Driver Info Centre. Rather oddly, I got slightly better mpg when the car was brand new in early July, and was not run in.

Run from gateshead - coningsby, lincs then to chesterfield then back to gateshead. In my Td4 manual average 75mph DIS says 35.2mpg but calculating it from actual consumption I got 37.1mpg!
