United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

Managed to fit LED strip to the high level brake light.
Made the strip by soldering standard 5mm high intensity red LEDs. Kept them on for two days to weed out any fault ones and one failed during the time.

Removed the lens from the brake light, can take it off without damaging it when done carefully.

Inserted the two LED strips in to the unit, fixed using double sided form tape to one side. Connected the wires to small piece of strip board which goes in to the original bulb holder. This way don't have to cut any wires.

Connected to the bulb holder. Ready to fix in to the car.

final result, looks very nice. Comes on before other two lights due to speed of LEDs turn on time.

Due to the washer nozzle, right hand corner looks bit odd.
What do you think, worth the effort or just looks like with the standard bulb? Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

hmmmmmm Exclamation or wait for the facelift model and fit original LED's when they become available Question

It does amaze and surprise me that some owners use a lot of energy to customize the lighting that really is not bad at all to start with. Still if the result satisfies who should judge the results Question The only exception that I find gloomy is the boot light which I know some have updated to a LED and which apparently is much brighter – one day I might just fit a LED there Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I've only had the FL2 a few days now and I agree - it sheds too little light to illuminate the inner reaches of the loadspace. Come the Ventura (or whatever they call the next FL model) I hope the LR folks improve this feature.
