Rusty fixings?!

Having just bought a fl2 with factory fitted mud flaps I would like to change and treat the fixings that hold them on as they look rusted and nasty.

Does anyone know if the fitting kit is available on its own?

Even better one with galvanised fixings?

Thanks Very Happy

I've just extended the mortgage on the house and used most of it to buy some new LR rear mud flaps. The kit includes two spring clips and you have to use the screws that are already fitted to the car. Some matt black hammerite on the clips and removed screws, plus copper grease on the screw thread has hopefully done the trick.

I will never understand why these are not made of a galvanised material, even it added to the cost it would make them more fit for purpose.

seems to be like the bracket that holds the towbar electrics, which also seems to rust after a year or two.

The tow bar bracket is only marketed by Land Rover, however if it is the Brink type you have - that is made by Thule of Sweden and marketed as Brink or manufactured by Brink and marketed by Thule who supply it to Land Rover Shocked

I bet if the truth was known it probably is manufactured by a third (or forth) company maybe situated in a Mediteranian country like Italy that does not have rust problems Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.
