If I was on his shoes I wouldn't have handled the gun, I don't know how to, so I would have phoned the police too,

BUT he knew how to handle weapons therefore he did the right thing taking it off the streets and handing it in

if he found and handed in a kilo of coke, would he then become a columbian drug lord or a honest person doing the right thing? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

He should have told the Super what he had and then suggested bringing it in. Sounds to me like he was trying to make a big thing of it and it bit him in the arse

What would he have said if he had been stopped on the way to the police station?

Anyone with common sense would have praised his actions.

The judge involved with this case should be sacked from his post immediately without receiving his huge pension as he is obviously out of touch with reality. As for the police involved in this case, they should be dealt with in the same manner. After all, it's our taxes that pay their over inflated salaries and pensions. This shows a map of the last general election, where Labour won with only 22% of the country voting for them

This story is bloody ridiculous. As a currently serving soldier, if I found the same at the bottom of my garden, I might have done the same. In all fairness I probably would have called it in, but not for fear of being charged, more incase the weapon had been involved in a crime.

I found a machete in my grandmother's shed a few months back and took that straight in to the local station. They took it without even asking for my name and address. I suppose technically I could have been charged with posession of an offensive weapon. But luckily, the PC on the desk wasn't an ass.

This guy should have the case thrown out by the judge. The experience alone will be enought to highlight that if anything of a similar nature happens to anyone else, they should ring it in first - but as I said, not for fear of getting done for picking it up, but for preservation of evidence in the case of a crime. 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

Im guessing he took it in as he didn't want whoever dumped the gun to see the police arrive at the guys house and take the gun away. I wouldnt like a visit from the bad guys asking why the hell I called the police At work
