Car Mats

Only had the freelander a couple of days but already the suplied carpet mats are starting to curl and move about. Sad

Every other car I have had in the last 10 years or so has come with well fitted mats that are firmly anchored to the floor on the driver and passenger side - the mats on the Freelander have one small hook on the drivers side and nothing on the pasengers side + they are very light and thin so already are curling...

Is this true of all the mats available or have I got a cheapy set? and are their any good alternatives LR or other manufacturer?

Thanks

Sounds like they could be a cheapy set.

The ones that I received are heavy duty LR rubber ones. (even say "Land Rover" on them) Off the top of my head I think that they are about £37 a set (1 set front & 1 set rear) ______________________

Yeah sounds like the mats didn't come from the top shelf.

I've got the Land Rover rubber mats (same as UKdave104), they're very good and don't move about. Mine have taken some hammer in six months and 15k miles and they're still fine.

Sounds like you should have a word in the salemans ear !

Seems odd (though not uncommon) that a saleman would cheapen a deal by giving you cheapo mats rather than the real deal. And surely you would expect a Land Rover of all cars to be needing decent mats. With the rubber mats you can have the confidence to get in and out with muddy wellies and know you wont do too much harm! Also with the rubber mats you just hit them with the power washer to keep them clean ...

sounds like the standard LR mats to me
I have them and they don't move about and don't curl so far (10 weeks and 5000+ km)
there was one problem at delivery time though : they 'assembled' the rear mats the wrong way around (the left one was put on the right and vice versa) Rolling with laughter
easy to fix, just swapped them Whistle

Yes I agee with everyone, I have mats with Landrover on them and they are good.
I feel on this quality car they should be in with the price, cutting corners for £40!

MikeFL2,

I have the HSE with carpet mats and they are pretty poor. As you say the non driver mats move all over the place and they do curl up a bit at the corners where they get bent because they have moved around in the footwells. I am going to see when my replacement car arrives next month if they will 'down grade' me to the rubber mats as the alpaca ones I have are grubby after six months and 15K miles. Considering these are a dearer spec than the rubber mats, save your money, everybody with a lower spec cars just get the rubber mats, they are much much better

I have the SE and the mats were extra, however they are ok and the drivers mat has a clip to hold it in place

Thanks for the replies. It seems as though I have the same mats as many others and some people are reasonably happy others less so. I've just checked back and these mats were an extra - the car is a company car and was ordered through the company online purchasing system and the price of the mats was £75 which considering the quality compared to previous cars was the reason for my post.

..think I'll get down to LR and get some rubber ones ready for the winter......

Cheers Thumbs Up

I am about to purchase mats but am undecided between the rubber and the carpet type.

There appears to be two carpet types, one which seems to be standard in the HSE and the second a rattan style set with a metal Land Rover badge on.

Any ideas if quality is on better on rattan style ones??

Thanks

I have the mats with the metal Land Rover badge and they are still OK after 6000 miles. No complaints except they are alpaca colour which gets dirty very quickly. When the time comes to replace them I will buy the same type of mat but in black.

Radney 1303, go for the ones which a badge if you must have carpet because the std ones with the HSE are pretty poor. I personally would not have carpet, definately rubber
