Front Runner for LR purchase

The Indian papers are full of the rumour that Tata are the front runner for the purchase or LR .

I remember years ago , much was made of the fact that one of the Rover saloons had a hook positioned on the gearbox tunnel on the passanger side. This become know as the Curry hook , so that you could hook your takeaway to it to stop it falling all over the floor ( Actually used the similar device in the back of the FL2 the other day for the same purpose .. worked great).

Anyway , clearly such international thinking in the Rover design team has leaked abroad , and Tata have taken notice Smile

Noticed the following info in the Company timeline in the wiki link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landrover

# 2007: June 12 Announcement from the Ford Motor Company that it plans to sell Land Rover and also Jaguar Cars. This effectively dissolves the Premier Automotive Group (PAG) which previously included Aston Martin, until it was sold into private ownership by Ford in March 2007; at this time Ford has made no announcement regarding Volvo Cars.
# 2007: August India's Tata Motors and Mahindra and Mahindra expressed their interest in purchasing Jaguar Cars and Land Rover from the Ford Motor Company.[2][3]

Tata looks (I underline looks) to have finally bought Land Rover and Jaguar.

An official statement to be released only in February 2008.

carlfraz,
Tata is a really good company. The Tata family have been industrialist and philanthropists for over 100 years.
They are good to their employees and know how to succeed in their business ventures. Tetley and Corus (once
called British Steel) are now Tata owned. Land Rover and Jaguar will do well under the Tatas.

PS: I may sound biased as I am a 'Tata product' - 2 generations of the family worked in Tata companies, but my opinions are based on first-hand experience.

Carl, I wouldn't worry because if Tata would take over LR I would say they'll keep it exactly as it i...especially considering the hugh sucess LR and RR brands are doing at the moment....and actually Ford are fools to sell their best running business.

True...but at the end of the day we need to keep mopving forward and it is 'tradition that that tradition changes'...........I am just worried that Tata may not see it that way........................ Bow down Bow down
