Replacement Key Fob

So I lost the key fob for my LR2 Big Cry I called the stealer and he said it is $550 CDN (£320, $500 USD) (400 for the key+150 to reprogram) to replace. I know LR is usually overpriced, but 550 for an FM transmitter is robbery Mad Any suggestions (aftermarket keys, do-it-yourself programming instructions, etc)?

What if the key didn't go missing and was infact stolen and the theif is waiting for the right time

my vote is insurance, so the key is unprogrammed from the car and you can sleep at night without worry

if you don't report it and it's stolen then your insurance might be void because you didn't ...... Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Dunno where they got the prices from, UK list is £110.80 inc vat! buy one from Yeovil LR, get it posted across then find an Autologic equipped independent who will be able to remove the old key from the list of authorised keys and code the new one....

£118 Shocked It's still robbery, but my backside feels somehow less tingly. Does anybody know Nick's email (at Yeovil)? PM me if you do. I guess I'll just suck up the $150 reprogramming cost, though.

I might ask my insurance company but insurance companies here have a way of doubling your premiums if you make a claim. Basically unless your house burns down or your car is a write-off or somebody died, don't make a claim.

I guess the lesson for the day is if you have a LR product, get key return tags made up.

On another note, I called a US dealer to get some prices. They were going to charge $300 USD for the key + $100 reprograming. After exchange that's over $150 CDN cheaper. I also asked about roof rails. I'd save nearly $400 CDN for that. You'd think LR give us loyal British subjects a break.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm still hopeful somebody finds it and returns it to the public transit office (I think it fell out of my pocket on the bus) or the LR dealership.

That's £110.80 inc vat, not sure if Nick will charge vat for an export but he'll give you some discount on that price anyway
