Fitting a bletooth car kit

Hello

Just looking at getting a FL2, but cant justify the extra £2K for an XS over a GS, just to get a bluetooth kit and a few other incidentals.

Have any of you fitted an aftermarket phonekit eg Parrot 3100?

Will probably go down this route, but would be interested if any extra cables etc are needed.

Cheers
Mark

Yes sorted out now, managed to persude my employer to supply/fit me a fitted Bluetooth Parrot car kit.

Unfortunately the company who fitted it fitted it with the telemute adapter lead for the old freelander, therefore the radio controls were affected. Radio wouldn't switch on without engine running, and radio once switched on, went straight to CD play, instead of radio.

Got them back today, to sort out, but the guy couldn't (or wouldn't) sort it, so removed the adapter lead, and wired in an independant speaker until they can get hold of the correct lead.

I'll get/post the full details of the correct lead ref and supplier when they come back to fit it.

Apart from the radio problem, the parrot kit works great, and sounded loud and clear from the cars speakers. Not quite as good as factory fit kit, but then again didn't cost extra £2k.

Cheers

All sorted now.

Bluetooth Parrot 3400 LS GPS kit now fitted and working great after the fitters fitted the correct telemute lead.

Works seemlessly through the cars speakers, automuting radio when talking.

Easy to take off afterwards also to put on another car, as no cuts to trim/screws etc.

Recommend to anyone else too tight to pay extra for XS over GS model!!

Parrot LS3200 fitting

I am trying to get an ISO adaptor cable to fit the Parrot LS 3200 LCD bluetooth car kit without cutting any cables. Does anyone know where I can get this as the old freelander leads are wrong? Thanks

Parrot 3200

Bought a Parrot 3200 LCD from a well known online auction site Wink . I have the Freelander 2 GS with standard audio which does not have ISO adaptors on the back.

I got a lead from my local ICE (In Car Entertainment) specialist which connects between the parrot and the stereo. The lead was from a company at www.celsusice.co.uk and as not freelander 2 lead is available yet it is actually the one for the Jaguar X-Type (AST1525) presumably because both vehicles come out of the same factory.

The only problem I found with the lead was that there does not appear to be a live wire which is switched by the ignition feeding the stereo. Therefore I had to patch a wire inside the centre console to pick up the live (ignition switched) feed from the lighter socket between the front seats. Theres an access panel on the rear of the centre console and I connected to the yellow wire giving me ignition switched power.

There isn't much room directly behind the stereo to fit all the cables but with a little jiggling it does all go in.
I then fed the cable for the control unit into the back of the tray (where the satnav would normally be) and put a mount on the dash. This means there's no unsightlly wires and also I can unhook and place the control module at the back of the tray when not in use which should make it a little less obvious to Censored theives.

So far the parrot unit has performed very well with pictures and complete handsfree voice tag dialing etc. at a much lower cost than the factory fit option (which incidentally wasn't even avaialble for the GS).

I checked all leads with a multi-tester before connecting and obviously can't guarantee it will be the same in all freelander 2's but hopefully this will be helpfull to anyone attempting the same. Thumbs Up

I am currently trying to get Hellfords to fit a parrot bluetooth kit in my standard GS.

They have so far tried 2 different interconnect cables (SOT-982 and an autoleads one) with no success. The connectors were a different shape on the 982 cable compared to the car harness, and the pins on the autoleads cable didnt match up with the pins on the harness.

Hellfords fitter has spoken to autoleads and is ordering a SOT-082 lead in to be hopefully fitted this weekend.

Finally got the parrot kit fitted by Hellfords after a couple of hiccups, they even upgraded me from the mk9100 to the mki9200 v3 at no extra cost. All in all very happy with it so far and apart from the 2.4" screen mounted on the right side of the LR head unit its all neatly tucked away out of sight.
