same as tubes, you need a riv-nut gun or cheat using two spanners, you also need a largish hole saw for the plastic trim 1.5in or so I cant recall

have attempted to fit them but encountered a problem ,the bracket that goes underneath the sill at the back which requires a rivnut have become stuck them bolt is too small to go in obviously because it needs fastener in so the bolt will screw in i asked landrover and they want 180 to fit them but the problem is i can do it myself just not sure how to get around the rivnut problem

sorry i don't quite understand whats happened, is it you don't have a rivnut tool?

if so try this

chicken george wrote:
Just to confirm that a rivnut tool is not needed. I just used a 7mm ring spanner between the stud and the rivnut then tightened the stud with a 10mm socket. A bit of wood came in handy to trap the 7mm against the car body as it tightened , much easier than expected.
The fiddliest part was refitting the plastic trim as it has press stud type things that need aligning properly. the job took about 1.5 hours.

A rivnut does expand once a bolts tightened, bit like a rivet, but the bolt does the pulling instead of the bit of wire in the standard rivet.

I would go to a local garage and ask if he could just do the rivnuts for you of eBay a rivnut tool on the cheap Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
