United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
Freelander 2 "Facelift"

Heard this today, maybe LR2maker can shed some light.

I heard that next year all FL2's will have day time running lights (2010 legislation apparently)

But the main bit I heard was what was planned for FL2 for the end of next year.

LED Running lights on Zenon headlights (Like Audi and currently on Disco 4 and RR/RRS)
LED Rear Lights
180/190PS TD4 engine upgrade as well as 160PS current version (To replace discontinued 3.2 i6)
Higher power TD4 to get twin exit exhausts (Like 3.2 i6)
Revised bumpers
Dash changes

If this is true and it comes out towards the back end of 2010 for the 2011 MY, would make a nice car. The engine rumour makes sense as the competition has much higher powered diesels. Audi has the 170PS 2.0 TDi with a 200PS version on the way, the XC60 has a 190PS diesel.

Hope this is true as it falls into line when we change ours. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

A 180/190PS engine would be great, I have the Bluefin on mine and like it, and thats supposed to be around 190PS.

But I always say, a factory 190PS would drive better than a modified re-mapped 190PS so the FL2 would be even better. If this turns out to be true, then it will be 4 years into Freelander 2's life span so as you say Npinks about the right time. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Scotland 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Indus Silver

F.Y.I.

Legal Directive
In September 2008 the European Commission adopted a proposal for a Directive that will introduce dedicated daytime running light (DRL) on all new types of passenger cars and small delivery vans from February 2011 onwards. Trucks and buses will follow from August 2012 onwards.

There will be no requirement to retro-fit daytime running lights to existing cars and no Europe-wide requirement for drivers of cars without dedicated daytime running lights to drive with headlights on during the day.

Where fitted, dedicated daytime running lights will switch on automatically when the engine is started.

Daytime running lights have been standard here for a very long time now (10+ years).

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

I'm due to trade in mine in July 2010, I do hope they're being sold by then, that would be nice.

Wonder if they'll add any other minor tweaks.

I know we've said it many times, and they won't, but air suspension would be fantastic on an FL2

Same here in Norway and rest of Scandinavia. Just the Brits that are behind the times as usual Laughing

I wonder when the pound will be replaced by the Euro Question and they still use inches and gallons I believe - still changes do take time Laughing 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Daytime running lights are a good idea IMO an may even look into putting the LED in to the FL2 if its a simple swap

but i also wonder since many motorbikes have lights on through the day to aid visability, how many will blend into the cars behind and be pulled out on. Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

my one due for replacement 2011, think i will stick with freelander rather than LRX as it looks a bit low.

the pics post are just a FL2 shell to test the LRX running gear, i would read anything in to how low a test car looks Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

There are minimum height requirments for ground clearance that LRX would need to meet, so as FL2 isn't too far off those, guess LRX would be ok?

DRLs are already standard - we have a 2-year-old TD4 HSE, and it has them. You might need to get the dealer to enable them via their computer, but they are definitely there...

They may be there in your country but I can't see how they can be switched on here as the headlights don't have any extra lights. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

From memory, I don't think there are any extra lights - it's just the headlamps running at a lower intensity. I got the dealer to activate it at the same time I got him to deactivate the double-press door unlocking.

I'd be surprised if it was different on UK cars, but you never know...
