AUTO GEARBOX

I have a question about the automatic gearbox gear change,At just over 40mph I can feel the box go into 5th gear take the vehicle speed up to 50mph and put the box into manual gear change I can then select 6th gear my question is when if left in automatic will it change from 5th to 6th gear.Thanks Garry

Around 60 mph in my experience.

(also applies to a Ford Galaxy that my f-i-l drives - similar box and engine I believe).

Won't 5th be the most economical gear at 50? This is why the auto won't change up automatically.
