With a TD4 manual, I never seem to get less than 40mpg mixed driving and rarely more than 43mpg on long journeys (computer readings). Have also calculated manually but this is always the same as the computer readings. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Just back from a jaunt down south. Drove down about 300 miles being pretty steady - no leadfooting - got 41mpg. Filled up and added some 2T oil, returned in similar fashion - got 39mpg. Although the figures were good for a 2.5 tonne 4x4, I was surprised at getting less on my return. Going down, I was on Morrison's "own brand" indeterminate diesel. Coming back I was on (mostly) Texaco + 2t mineral, so maybe you're not better off with known brands at all.

Not slippers no, but I still get similar results driving in wellies However, our driving conditions are a little different to the UK. Highest speed limit on our motorways is 100 km/hour and for normal roads it is 80. Many roads have even lower speed limits and speed enforcement is much more so than in the UK and speeding fines are considerably higher. It is not many that drive faster than the speed limits away from motorways. I should have mentioned that fuel comsumption is considerably more when driving in the mountains, but I never bother to check exactly how much more because that is where I have most fun. During winter, fuel consumption also increases due partly to the use of winter tyres and possibly partly due to the low temperatures. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. Have been averaging 31-33 no dual carrigeway or motorway but 30 miles of A77 from Girvan to Kilmarnock covered by 19 gantries of "specs" average speed cameras.

I have not reset my trips for about 2 months. On seeing trail took the excuse to go outside to have a look at what Emily is delivering, coming back via garage to pick up a v large G&T. Manual diesel SE 60k driven over tracks, C, B, A, roads with some M,ways but little urban, Worcester is probably largest metropolis visited =41.1mpg. Mrs Upnaway would probably suggest that it is a pity G&T consumption was that frugal!

My Fl2 will do 44.2 mpg on a long run (approx 200 miles plus on the motorway at the legal speed) but for mixed driving (town and motorways) about 34 mpg , Town driving which is all I have done for the 4 weeks 29.8 mpg is what the trip is saying. And it still has half a tank after 4 weeks???

This thread could run for ever but as i think I have said before on another thread, in my opinion the only accurate way of measuring fuel consumption is from full to empty tank, refill and calculate as the computer can only give averages.

I would have agreed but I gave up manually calculating it when I found it was repeatedly accurate within 0.5mpg. |
