but then your key fob gets all diesely the allen key idea is good every time i use a punp I wonder whether that would work.

The nozzle on the farm pump is exactly the same as a forecourt one (but without the advertising space) and had the wire catch built in. The nozzle cost me £90 3 months ago before then I had an non auto one that would over flow if left unattended the fuel pump on the farm tank pumps at 60L/minute At work

you could always use your feul cap, just put the bit you screw in in the handle.

Also, if the pump did fall out, the cap is attached to your car, so it would stop pumping.

I quite regularly choose the HGV pump at my local Shell station. The fuel is the same (I don't use V-Power, I splash in my own Millers DPP) and it avoids any queue for the other pumps - Diesels being more popular then they used to be.

The other advantage is that there is no second pump with a vehicle in front so when you've paid, you can go.

It helps to get a consistent fill if you use the same pump each time and the same number of click-stops. Pumps vary and are allowed to under-deliver (no surprises there then) within limits so by using the same pump when I can, I keep a better track of fill-to-fill fuel consumption to compare with the trip computer - is that sad or what? Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

HGV's take about 4 months to fill up hence the locking feature!!

Thank god LR haven't fitted the misfuel device on the FL.

It is a real boon when the car + caravan is 13.5m long and there are long cues on the Autobahn in the summer. The truck pumps usually have no waiting times.

Plus life in germany is much simpler. H&S is a more personal thing. We have locks on the fuel fillers so you put in the car and leave to the click. Get this, the other day a builder came to my house and painted a wall and was able to return home alive and well despite committing the hinous crime of not wearing a hi-vis vest or a hard hat. I would put a fivers worth in to get over border where the fuel today Was £1.14 ltr OH! and there are attendants who fill her up and check the oil etc, no need for any little gizmos  WAMMG
