Deteriorated plastic from the friction with the seat belt

Hello,

I have notice that the plastic holster of the drivers seat belt at the left side exit point (below the curtain air back) started to deteriorated from the friction with the seat belt.

Did somebody else experience this problem? Is there any solution (plastic or metal cover)?

Thanks The first one !!!

Hi Efthys,

Good to see someone else from Cyprus here.

I haven't seen any other Freelander 2's on the road here yet! Very happy with the car but like your's has some niggly faults - see my posts.

Yes I had some of the internal louvres of the Driver side front air vent adrift .. had to pop them back into place with long nosed pliers, couldn't work out why they were adrift, perhaps its part fitting procedure knocks them about.

Yes the service manager "had not see this type of fault before", ordered a new "B" post trim & filed a product defect report, so i going back on the 5th June for a new part!, But i pointed out to him on returning the courtesy FL2, i pointed out this had also started to wear! I hope Landrover has good stock of the B post inner trims!!!,

The dealer also repaired the face louvre + updated the ECU the the lastest version ( diplay error messages), BUT LAND ROVER are Aware of the trip fault and are still working on a FIX! Whistle

We have the same problem with the drivers side seat belt wearing a groove in the surrounding trim when the seat belt is pulled out or reeled back in.

will be in at the dealers shortly.

Strange thing is only the drivers side appears to be wearing although I suppose this gets the most use.

Hi everybody,
I have the same problem with my seat belts as well. I mentioned that to the dealer yesterday, and will probably change the B-post but this is not going to cure the problem. So I agree with Totherescue, I hope LR has a good stock of them!

Belgium

We have the same problem, also the B-post colors black (can be removed with a wet cloth).

Nothing that worries me much though (lease car so it's their problem if they want it replaced or not).

New propshaft has arrived at the dealer and will be installed July 25th (2 days before we leave on holiday). I'm planning a test trip into the Belgian Ardennes the 26th. Hope everything turns out fine Thumbs Up

I'm also beginning to get a slight groove in the B-post trim, but I guess what is more concerning is whether this is going to lead to erosion of the seatbelt itself. No signs yet, but if there's enough friction to rub away plastic, there's got to be some detrimental effect on the belt too.... Sad

Had first major service at 22,000k. Dealer ordering new parts for around seat belt. This will fix problem in the short term but no good as a long term fix. When they fit them I will find out if he has put in a fix to LR for this problem. Also getting 2 new wing mirrors fitted due to creaking but again this will probably be a short term fix.
