Take a different view, tell the 'old fart' to give it a try, he might be surprised.

I have the stop/start system. Yes, to turn off, press the ECO button. But you would have to do that for each journey if you never want it on.

Got the start/stop system myself and got used to it. Doesn't shut the engine off all the mime, especially with these hot temps and my wife thinking airco is the same as your car being a fridge. It usually stops then restart in 10 to 15 seconds an never stops again.

Thanks Guys for the no help, its transpired that its not the engine stopping thats iffed him off (he does not travel into the bright lights of Droitwich very often) but a warning light in the cluster that tells him to change up before his misses suggests he slow down. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit |

I've always been told not to switch a turbo engine off right away, especially when hot, but leave it to tick over for about 30 seconds or so to allow fresh oil to cool the turbo before switch off.

the engine shuts down more or less straight away, but they may have something that provides some lubrication to the turbo for a few seconds after shutdown ? |
