Sport Mode/CommandShift - Done a search & read the manua

OK - Page 124 & 125 of my manual explains drive/ sport mode etc.

It clearly says on page 124 "Select Drive D when vehicle is stationary - foot on brake etc.

However on page 125 it doesn't say anything about being stationary when moving to sports mode (logic tells me you should be) so........... really dumb question....

Can you move to sport mode/command shift while car is moving.

I know this sounds really stupid but I've been thinking about it for a while and I haven't been able to find the answer myself so I thought I'd ask people in the know.

PS Needless to say - I won't be trying it until someone says yes or no; you can/can't do it.

Thanks.

RR

you can switch to sport mode whilst driving and use command shift whilst driving also without any risk whatsoever

Sports mode will hold the engine in gear longer to allow further acceleration

Even in command shift, it will not allow you to change down to a gear that will damage the engine (i.e 6th to 1st at 70mph) from memory it will as change up if you red line (unless your in a Terrain Response Program as you could be using the 1st gear for engine braking)

The reason you have to have your foot on the brake when selecting D, is that your selecting a driving gear and the car will creep forward, (same if you select R or N)

BTW no damage would occur by engaging TR at speed also Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks. I'll give it a go.

Handbook could be clearer on this.

Anyway, perhaps my question will help others.

I always change to sport mode while driving and there was no problem.

Agree Thumbs Up car becomes quite a beast, I only used it on my manual.

I bet Sand mode on TR and Sport mode on the transmission is a real hoot !!! Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

I notice the difference, it doesn't magically increase horsepower, but it delivers it cleaner without a feeling of 'damping' associated with pulling away 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Mine and my dogs Storm and Sky
