LRX Production going to India?

Another kick in the balls for Land Rover, with production of the Jag X Type ending at Halewood it was anticipated that the forthcoming LRX would be built there alongside the FL2 that shares the same platform.

Rumour now has it that production of the LRX could go to India with a final decision / nail in the coffin being announced in September. Looks like we could be saying 'Ta Ta" to the LRX

yam-yams or yo-yos? Laughing

The only thing that has (probably) saved one of the two west mids factories is (allegedly) RR won't fit through Mike Hailwood paintshop. Must be true, a bloke down the pub told me... Wink

The plot thickens!! 4 natwest.

True the current rr ds won't. However the next gen ones will. Seen the profiles for em. When defender stops uk production makes 8000 heads at solihull making rr ds only v shaky. 2000 vs 8000. Do the maths!!! Live your life be free-lander

Solihull makes 3 models LR2maker. FFRR, RRS and Disco4. Plus it presses all the body panels for the New Mini for BMW. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green

This is what I would do if in charge of LR .... and aside from Defender I suspect will happen....

Move Defender production to India.

Doesn't meet EU impact laws, but its a niche vehicle in a niche market. The bolt off bolt on body panels make it perfect for rufty tufty off road life which D3 or a Landcruiser can't match, and allows LR to stay in the military / agricultural / 3rd world utility vehicle market.

It also makes space in Solihull for an all new higher spec westernised 'Defender' which meets EU and US impact laws.

Lastly LRX and any other new vehicles sharing the FL2 platform goes to Halewood, keeping it all under the one roof. Halewood loses the Jaguar name over the door and becomes LR. 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Mine and my dogs Storm and Sky
TT Quattro, black. Ers.
AC Cobra rep in build. Ars.

Lr2m,
My turn to be pedantic... No Defender CKD in India (yet), its currently next door in Pakistan.
