My glovebox is difficult to close, it either needs to be given a firm push in the nearly closed position or a good slam from lower down and I was wondering if anyone had also had this problem.
I thought the wire retaining clip may be out of alignment.

My glove box has always taken some effort to close it. I would prefer to close it slowly and firmly (if that makes sense) but I've had to adopt the short sharp slam for as long as I've had my FL2. I've had a good look at the locking mechanism and couldn't find anything adjustable, so have lived with it. It has been like this for 2 1/2 years, I've never mentioned it to the dealer because they can't be are5ed with the important stuff so I don't think they'd show the slightest interest in this problem. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor ... but not any more ... ... psst look at my gallery!

Remove the wifes handbag first and the glove box will close as easy as peasy  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

2 glovebox problems , both vaners , maybe, just maybe I was right after all . My glovebox is just fine At work

Just remove one of the small cone shaped rubber plugs near the lock. They just pull out easily. I store mine in the cubby box on the HSE if I might need it again. Will be easier to shut and won't rattle.

Check that the glove box is sat securely in its hinges. it is easily removed to access the rear of the dash so maybe has moved slightly and got out of line  At work

Good idea, I have tried that but on my car I ended up with a rattle, so back in the rubber plug went! Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor ... but not any more ... ... psst look at my gallery!

Could be sign the lock mechanism is on the way out. Our failed 48 hrs after we picked up the car. The second made it 4 weeks. The third one is lasting OK though!!! Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

Thanks, removed the centre one today and will see if there,s a rattle tomorrow when I go out. It certainly closes better.

This is a very basic fix - open the cubby. On the top bit that stays behind (not on the lid itself) there is a U-shaped catch - looks like a bit of very thick wiring that has been bent in shape of a U. Take a screw driver or pliars and bend this 5mm upward... F2 - most underrated vehicle around
