Non Start

Has anyone experienced a non start combined with problems of locking and unlocking?

Several times now the car will not lock and more recently wont start - put the fob in press the start button and nothing, just a slight buzzing sound while your finger is pressed on the starter.

Solution to this is get out the car lock it - unlock it get in and it starts Twisted Evil

Dealer had a look and thought it was a key problem but been using both keys and it happens to both.

Looks like another trip to the dealer Censored

Perhaps it's the FL2's battery.

I had this lock problem on my Renault Scénic: The car would not lock, due to a defective car battery! Freelander 2 SE 4Td Izmir Blue, Dog cage for Alaskan Malamute, iphone Navigon Navigator

Do you really get out of the car? surely the car wouldn't know if you just sat inside and locked/unlocked the doors with the key fob?

I think there was another related thread. Mine has not started initally a few times. I know when it's going to happen, as when I put the key in the ignition, the electronic steering lock doesn't release. LR did a software update on it and thus far it's been ok. When this has happened it made a buzzing sound when pressing the start button, but it didn't crank. After taking the key in and out a couple of times it worked and started. When this happened, it also reset the trip computer - very odd. Be interested to learn if LR find anything different with yours Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

make sure your not parked in such a way that the steering wheel is putting pressure on the steering lock, in the same way as the steering lock can jam against a normal car key sometimes. Someone on here had a non start related to that problem At work

Fingers crossed its now fixed Exclamation

9 days, that is dreadful, what on earth were they doing, rebuilding the car piece by piece?

I hope they looked after you both with a replacement vehicle and that the repair is 100% effective. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

All seems fine now, dealer was very helpful and LR supplied one of their Range Rover hire cars which had no problems (made sure I put some miles on it and visited some friends in remote places - 1,800 miles in 7 days Laughing )
Wish I had waited for the auto FL2 as now got to crunch the gears to get moving Big Cry
Auto seems much more relaxed, I think I am a convert Bow down
