Exhaust systems corrode, fact of life. They usually drop off or fail exactly 1 hour after the warranty runs out, also a fact of life.

I've had the manifolds on my Cobra ceramic spray coated for that reason, Censored expensive, can't say yet how well it will stand up as, at the current rate of progress, it will probably take me at least another year to get on the road Crying or Very sad 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Not all exhaust systems rust and fall off before the guarantee runs out - that is a myth of the past.

The exhaust on my 2000 BMW was still going strong and with no sign of exterior rust, abnormal sound or any type of fail over 7-years later when I sold it.

Therefore it is easy to deduce that quality exhaust systems can survive the age of todays vehicles. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

fast driving make your exhaust live longer, short cold trips mean the inside of the pipe never gets dried out so it corrodes more At work

I know it has been a while but as predicted last week the paint has started flaking off the exhaust again. I will inform the dealer but I guess I'll just have to put up with it. I can only assume that something was wrong with the paint or "curing" process for my Freelander as this does not seem to be a widespread problem. As it is possibly only cosmetic I guess the dealer will probably suggest doing nothing else.
