New aux belt tensioner needed

Recently I have been hearing strange noises from under the bonnet but hadn't had much time to investigate. The car would also sometimes labour at low revs but then come right.

As I was driving home last week I heard a loud squeal from under the bonnet but then again the noise stopped and the car came right. Once home I popped the bonnet and I could see a rib off the belt.

I've now taken the aux belt and tensioner off and it has been well worn. Not that I am complaining after 173,000 miles, I think it's done rather well.

Going to fit a new dayco belt and tensioner when the parts come.

Change the idler as well. JLR say belt every 150k miles I just changed mine at 75k not worn at all BUT think you were lucky as there have been several cases where a failed Aux belt has got under the cam belt and caused catastrophic damage. 2013 FL2 XS.

All done now and the car is sounding much better. It was easier than I was expecting. I watched the excellent video by forum members Scott and Alana before starting and thankfully the job went smoothly.
