Gearbox main drain plug

Was going to change gearbox oil on my beast today.
Got it up on ramps. Bottom cover off, airbox out, loosened the fill plug.
Then got the inside nut out then tried the main plug. Wouldnt budge Censored
The last dickhead that changed the gearbox oil must have muscles on muscles, would not budge.
Plus you cant get a really solid connection with the plug as its pretty shallow and I didnt want to round off the plug.
Sooo how does one get the main plug out without Censored up the plug.
I had been for a quick drive before I started on it, is it better to get plug undone cold and warmed up.
TIA

Are you using a 17mm hex male on the inside of the bolt, rather than a socket on the outside of the bolt? I'm sure you are, just thought i'd check!

I know your pain. EVERYTHING was done up superman tight on mine when i got her. Lost track of how many bolts I destroyed getting off, or even had to cut off.

Hi Grue, Do you know the number for the plug.
I'll have to order some in so I'll have some spares incase it happens again when I eventually get it off.
cheers

From my notes....

LR005643 for main drain plug
LR00002461 for main drain plug washer
LR000869 for O Ring on Level Plug

Please double check... Seem to recall the petrol's have a different main drain plug, but all diesels should be as per above.
