In 2023 A-Plan/Howden charged me £619 for the year. 2024 it was £689 and this year Howden's renewal was for £727. With the fact that it's now above £700, I wanted to be sure I wasn't being overcharged, so I gave Adrian Flux a call who also deal with modified 4x4 car insurance to see what they could offer me. After going through all the jumps and hoops, then having to wait on a call back while the underwriter got back to them, the closest they could get was a few quid over the £1000 mark.

So I gave Howden's Thatcham branch a call and got through to Hollie, after a couple of minor tweaks to the policy which the underwriter decided that there was no enhanced risk with the changes I had made, honored the renewal price of £727 for our Freelander 2 for the year. Just had my renewal and gone with it at £778. Over 70 years old, speeding ticket and just clouted a Transit van so I think not too bad, that’s with Admiral.
