With sad feelings I've had to part with my i6 after nine great years driving it.
Unfortunately it's starting to cost a too much to run, just done the starter motor and the alternator which was a fortune to fit, amazing how many other parts you have to take off just to get to it.
The lpg system is playing up and the prices of gas have shot up,
Hate to think what the government are going to do with the road tax.

My Daughter is driving the 3.2 now and I bought it new so it’s been 16 years.

I did replace the starter and I rebuilt the Alternator (Brushes and overdrive pulley)

My cost of ownership has been low but I have been very proactive with maintenance and repairs


For my daily driver I did switch to a PHEV but I don’t talk about it here because it is not a LAND ROVER


Did you let the new owner of your 3.2 about FREEL2.com ?

I've got a Toyota rav4 2017, road tax is £35.00 and does about twice the miles of an i6 per gallon.
It's nice but it's not the same  Common sense isn't very common.

Well if they clobber my TD4 with unaffordable tax as I only done 1800 miles in the last year I might get a Morris 1000 Traveler tax exempt nice and simple will not depreciate a fitting form of transport for a 70 yr old FOC  2013 FL2 XS.

My i6 is due to go into Bell Engineering next month to have the diff replaced and Haldex serviced. A few hundred spondulix there.

The vehicle tax here in the UK is now really rather punishing. I ease it in my conscience and my wallet by paying it off monthly. I know, I'm only kidding myself!

If I'm lucky and on a motorway I may just about reach 30 mpg cruising at 72 mph. Since the i6 is our daily driver, it is usually a lot less, though.

Our other car is a 2006 Jaguar XK convertible, 4.2 litres, also in the top tax band. It is slightly more economical and I have seen 33 mpg out of it - yipee! Since it is legally my wife's car, she has to pay the running costs ...

Then for my secret motoring pleasure I have a 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint DHC. No tax! And that gets around 29-30 mpg.

One of the great things about these cars is that I can lift the bonnet (hood) and know what I am looking at and even do some maintenance myself. They are not fitted with reams of nannying alarms, bongs and whistles to tell you to do this that and the other, like modern cars.

I do appreciate the march of technology, though. I have a part time job, as a retired old man, driving Rolls Royce and Bentley cars around south east England for P&A Wood, in the next door village to us. The moderns are on the whole, terrific cars, as you might expect. The electric Royce, the Spectre, absolutely plays to the marque's strengths of effortless, powerful, silent, luxurious travel and is an impressive car. But I would never have an EV!

26.9 MPG. American

32.3 MPG. Back home in the UK with a proper sized gallon

8.74 L/100 KM. Using units that only make sense for Soda over here

If the other cars are going 75 then I will be too.

I am a bit disappointed that the LR2 doesn’t have slightly taller gears or more gears like the Evogue with the 9 speed.

I really like the 3.2 but it has its limitations

The number of Freelanders on the road is reducing at quite a rate now. Pity there is nothing to replace them. An opportunity missed.😕 Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

In fact, us in the i6 community, sorry, exclusive community, have a pretty good record of keeping our FL2s on the road.

I have records of 190 i6s still knocking around from the 564 sold in the UK. Given that figure is just what I have been noting over the last three years, I dare say there are at least another 150 of them that I do not have records of.

Even a conservative guesstimate would put that at around 50-55% survival rate. Pretty good going, I'd say. Tim

Just a comment. No sane person buys a Land Rover for its fuel economy.
