I think the standard Freelander 2 exhaust is actually stainless steel, albeit not the quality polished type like this exhaust. Never seen or heard of a rotten one. Mines 11 years old and perfectly good still. I think it looks pretty good. The exhaust tips are a bit 'blingy' for my taste I'd prefer the standard sized pipes perhaps with rolled tips. If I needed to replace the back box for any reason I'd go for something like this. A good few years back my wife had a mk4 Golf Tdi and it's exhaust failed pretty much all at the one time from down pipe to back box. Priced it from VW and it was something ridiculous like £1200 for a standard system. Ended up paying £400 for a full stainless steel Scorpion exhaust which was great quality and sounded pretty good too. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I had always thought that I would fit something like that when mine
rotted out, but given the fact it's stainless steel and doesn't appear to
have any issues, then it would probably out last the rest of the motor. Laughing
I believe some on here have used the rear part from the IS6 petrol freelander and cut it to fit. Wink DAVE.

I think that particular set-up on Ebay looks odd, with the back box to one side making the exit pipes look asymmetrical.

My original i6 back box was central.

However, I decided to delete the back box completely with a custom system.

I had the original back box up on Ebay for just £25, but after 12 months of repeated listing , I gave it to the scrap man. Then, suddenly, people kept asking if it was still available ! Typical.

There are plenty of custom exhaust manufacturers that you can visit and discuss you'r own personal specifications with. I'd do that, rather than buy one "off the shelf" from the likes of ebay.

I have a proper engine & not a fish & chip oil burner!

It comes with 2 pipe outlets. Quite frankly it's BS as there is only one pipe from the front of the car.

As far as I can tell the muffler & plumbing seem to be stainless steel.

If the muffler hasn't rusted I question why one is replacing it.

On the subject of Freelander 2 exhausts, this might be an acquired taste thing but this car belongs to a good friend of mine. He uses his Freelander 2 for his job, hence the cut down rear bumper and side exit exhaust to help with ground clearance at the back.

Sorry, been bed ridden with flu - proper flu mind, not man flu. Man flu doesn't effect me, I just ride it out and go about my day. Real flu, on the other hand, has left me unable to function.
As soon as I'm on my feet, I'll get a video on here . Thumbs Up
